When Beating the Steelers in a preseason game is your highlight- wow. They spent more than a minute on a preseason game.

My New York Giants, at their absolute worst. Their highlight of 1975 was their exhibition win over Pittsburgh.

It was truly the “dark ages” for our Giants. Even their helmet logos sucked.

1975 Shea field was a sandlot! Crazy seeing that now with every field in perfect shape for every game.

Forgot QB Craig Morton spent 3 horrible seasons as a NYG 1974,75,76- and to think Dallas GM Tex Schramm traded him in division no less) for the NYG #1 pick 4th overall in 1975 that pick became HoF and SB MVP Randy White.

Typical of the NY Football Giants of the 1970’s. The Mara family feud was in high gear. Sad.

I remember the Giants opening day win over Philly. I was 13 and at Shea with 52,000 other people watching the Mets Fan Appreciation Day game and listening to the Giants on my transistor radio. I was at the Giants vs Colts game in December and it was cold as could be in the upper deck and the Giants lost 21 zip.

My first Giants game live was the game against the Redskins at Shea. I was 11 years old and finally had the chance to see the NYG live with my Dad. One of my greatest memories of my father when I growing up.

Same here. First game with dad behind the outfield goalpost; warm day for November. Skins fan, however.

@@Cape-Dweller Hey, that’s really cool! I actually lived in DC in mid to late 1980’s and actually adopted them as my second team after the NYG. Was there at Champions Sports Bar at the corner of M Street and Wisconsin Ave when they beat Denver in SB. Great times! 👍

Starters played more but they meant nothing. If a win over the Steelers in the preseason is your highlight, maybe a season film should not have been made.

The ‘75 Giants actually improved by three games over ‘74. However, the momentum would not carry into ‘76, where the Giants lost a heartbreaker at Washington in week one, leading to a 0-7 start and the end of the Arnsbarger tenure.
@peterhook722 жыл бұрын
The false promise of the 6-0 ‘73 preseason should’ve been fair warning. Why are there no logos on their helmets in the preseason?
@natch274 ай бұрын
Times must’ve been tough in ‘75 as the Giants couldn’t get helmet decals for the preseason.

Why are there even ‘highlights’ of the 70s Giants. Those teams were some of the absolute worst in NFL history.
@kartanoman Жыл бұрын
Every NFL team had one produced by NFL Films at the time. They would send the films to the teams who would use them for marketing purposes. Hence, all the big to-do about the two end of season wins and the opening of Giants Stadium for 1976 at the end. This film is what "The Wilderness Years" were all about. Not having their own home stadium, on top of not having any talent to compete, results in what Howard Cosell used to refer to them as "The Hapless, New York Football Giants." The present team is not even close to the hopeless state Arnsparger's teams were in.
