I’m so happy to see a first year teacher who is setting up in a smart and functional way!! I see your passion and pedagogical knowledge coming through, which we don’t always see on KZbin!

This comment means so much to me!! I really don't care about having the prettiest/trendiest classroom, I just want my room to be a space that is functional and allows me students to learn in the best way possible! You made me day, thank you so much!

Personally I’d turn that pink cove into solely a calm down area! Super cute and cozy and nicely private
@aj_san37883 жыл бұрын
oh that's a good idea! I would have turned it into a reading nook, switching the library and kitchen area
@jessicaheart85885 жыл бұрын
You should think about creating a calm down areas that’s separate from the play area. Kids can can confused when to utilize the calm down area and when it play time. Plus if a kid is having a hard time and your In the middle of centers your going to have to move those kids from the area so the child who is having a hard time can use those calm down techniques in the calm down area ... I hope that’s not to confusing...

I'm so in awe of all the resources and materials you have as a first-year teacher. I wished I had a tenth of that. It's an adventure for me! Best wishes!

It's starting to look really good! It's so cool to see it all come together & how you're figuring out stuff & making it your own! By pre-cutting the trim for your whiteboard-style bulletin boards & pre-taping them saved you a lot of time, I bet, once you figured that out! Like the saying "work smart, not harder" or however it goes LOL Can't wait to see more!!

Just a tip I've learned in my teaching experience. I would move the blocks to a more "loud" area away from the library since it is a "quiet" area. You should put the library closer to your calm down area for a more quiet zone

I love your classroom when I grow up I want to be a teacher and I want a classroom like yours🥰
@kristinchappell66775 жыл бұрын
I second what others were saying. You will probably want to find a separate space for your calm down/safe spot away from the centers. Coming from experience, kids will want to be away from others when they are calling down, and with it being part of the dramatic play, they may not utilize it as much when they need it. Also, definitely try to find a cheaper rug, especially if it's coming out of your pocket. Kids are gross, you may have a kid pee or puke or spill something on it, so save your money and buy cheaper carpets that you don't mind replacing.

I'd be careful about having unsupported book shelves (ones not against a wall or other surface) because they can tip if the kids put to much pressure on them or lean on them. Especially with little ones in your room, it is probably more likely.

The little area you want to put a table/calm down area....it might not be a great idea to combine the area. Idotn sya ti to judge but from 19 yrs experince with prek butyou coudl always change it. It's adorable space. Maybe a good book area....I do like that ther eis flexibilty in the area def can be switched around and used in numerous ways....you'll figure it out as you get to know your kiddos :)
