Some nice acquisitions. Winnie the Pooh is a good one. Tiny hard covers I appreciate too.

Nice Book haul, glad LeGuin is getting you out of your reading slump I've read a few of her Hanish books this year.

I think City of Illusion is technically a Hanish book. Seems like a loose connection between them all

I never listened to an audio book, but often listened to music while reading for high school every time I hear Blood,Sweat and Tears it reminds me of Sinclair Lewis and Mainstreet.

Moby Dick is one of my absolute favorite novels, and there is an argument to be made that it is one of the greatest American novels. Ishmael is a very interesting protagonist, a strange and excitable lens through which to glimpse the fantastic nautical narrative (and his friendship with Queequeg is so unexpectedly delightful). Of course Ahab is one of literature's greatest antagonists. It can certainly be a bit of a challenge at times, but I would strongly suggest you give it an earnest try.

Thanks. I was hoping to get some words of encouragement about Moby Dick

Great haul video! I love the classics. Speaking of The Call of the Wild, did you see the Harrison Ford screen adaptation from 2020? Not too shabby. Found a Le Guin this week, a very good condition The Dispossessed with red edges. Unfortunately the previous owner signed and dated the inside cover. Why do people do that? Anyways, looking forward to your end of year rankings. I think I'm on pace to read 55 books this year. Take care...

That's a book a week congrats! I really don't know why people sign their books. They are only yours temporarily 🤠

That''s one snazzy tie. I ordered a two voiume set of Charles Dickens Christmas stories, a long time ago, thinking it would have his "A Christmas Carol" in it, but no. I am reading the story "The Christmas Carol" this year, as it is included in a Reader's Digest Condensed Novel volume. The 1951 version of "Scrooge" starring Alistair Sim, is a pretty good reproduction of the book's dialogs.
@bookjack Жыл бұрын
I've seen that movie actually. My uncle insisted upon it :)
@phaedrus2633 Жыл бұрын
@@bookjack The 1951 British Alistair Sims movie, I think named "Scrooge" was pretty faithful to the dialog of the book. That's, by far, my best version of "The Christmas Carol".

I grew up on Jack London. I did a book report on White Fang in 5th grade. I re-read White Fang, The Seawolf, and Call of the Wild over this last year. Walden is the first book I ever DNFd. And if we're just going classics in general, have you read The Three Musketeers? It's one of my all time favorites.

I haven't but I loved The Count of Monte Cristo and have been wanting to give Dumas another chance
