I gotta say, when I reached Mobius, I genuinely felt kinda bad for the guy. I just couldn't bring myself to kill him. He's one of the sanest members of the Think Tank...when he's not hopped up on chems...and almost has a Farnsworth vibe to him.

It's actually saddening to hear the story behind Mobius' intentions: Originally,he wanted to keep the Think Tank within Big MT to prevent them from repeating all the horrendous experiments that occurred, like the Y-17 Trauma Harnesses, the Cazadores and Nightstalkers, the Saturnite Ammo, etc. But since he couldn't bring himself to kill his old friends,he decides to confine them in the crater and act as a the cruel psychotic villain to keep them at bay in the Think Tank Dome. So all this time, should we really feel bad for the original Old World psychopaths that created all such monstrous experiments through the "wonders" of Science? Or should we feel merciful for the old brain that wanders alone in the Forbidden Dome, seemingly joyful in nature but certainly broken in heart and possibly stem?

Seeing them existing in such a sorry state of brain matter lumps in mentats soup on metallic antigrav chassis, having all five senses distorted with worn out electric contacts, living in a out-of-time limbo for 200 years trying to answer the questions no one ever cared about - that's worse than hell. Killing them was an act of mercy. If only their brightest minds were used to ressurect The Wastes, I would've left them be. That Giant Robo-Scorpion was well-done, first of all. Great encounter. It's not just a Robo-Scorpion made big. It actually feels like it's a big tank-like monstrosity. Aaand because of that, my strategy was to use the distractions you can give it as a means to whittle down its health from my hidey-hole because its tail gun blast wave couldn't QUITE get into the pod, meaning I was technically safe while attacking it. I also want to point out that Dr. Mobius is probably one of the best mad scientists ever, and that Old World Blues must be the best Wizard of Oz kind of tale since the original. Kinda late to the party, but when I played this DLC in my second playthrough I knew about the whole "Who are you, that do not know your history?" thing. He made Dr. Klein remember. The Courier does the same to Mobius. He forgot everything that he did, and the Courier makes him remember everything. He says "Oh, curiosity. I experience that less now that I know everything. Or maybe it was when I found some unpleasant answers?", which makes you think. He remembered what he did, so he forced himself to forget. The entire point of Lonesome Road is that the Courier is the future, while Ulysses is the past. Whether the Courier forgot about the events at Hopeville because of his head injury or just moved on is up to us to decide. Ulysses is there to remember it for him. The Courier and Ulysses are opposites of each other. But they have one thing in common, their outstanding ability to influence people. They could easily make a nation together, but Ulysses is too stuck in the past, and the Courier is thrown into a conflict that has nothing to do with him. Anyway, yeah, that's some thoughts I had while playing the DLC. It's kinda all over the place, but yeah.

"Please mind the equation on the floor." I believe it's an easter egg dating back to Roman Empire. Romans conquered the city of Syracuse after the siege of 214-212 BCE (befor common era) and Roman general Marcus Claudius Marcellus ordered to retrieve Archimedes, a Greek mathematician and astronomer. At the time Archimedes was solving the equation regarding circles on the sand, he was so engrossed in the process that he ignored Romans and answered Noli, obsecro, istum disturbare ("Do not, I entreat you, disturb that sand"), upon which Roman soldier killed him.

I might vote to just kill them and let Mobius live out the rest of his days in peace. Not having to worry about the insanity of the Think Tank. If you leave the Think Tank and only return once you have the 3 items then leave to talk to Mobius without talking to the scientists you wont have a choice in the matter and must kill them, but then if you did talk to them all you still have the choice to kill them. Or you could just choose the wrong dialogue option if you try to be peaceful and trigger the fight anyway. So your vote is accounted for. Oxhorn will show the rest.

I enjoyed watching you play this DLC more than I personally liked playing it. Also fantastic intro. I can tell you put a lot of work into it.

When I first met Mobius he certainly wasn't what I expected. I went there with intent to kill him, but after meeting I just couldn't.

See, I had no issue with the Giant Robo-Scorpion battle because I shot at it from the pods as much as I could, and then hid behind filing cabinets. It has a rhythm to its' attacks and if you're in the right spot it's a pretty easy battle.
The flying tortoise line is so good. Im just imaging Mobius high as hell on chems with tortoises zipping around him like a cartoon character when they've been knocked out. 😅

it's hard to kill dr mobius for me, cause he remind me of my late father....a senile old man that have a problem with medicine but have a good heart and intentions

The DLCs in this game are so great. Honest hearts for Joshua Graham and all of Zion as a location, lonesome road for the Ulysses and the story, and Old World Blues for equipment and that amazing voice acting 😂😂 Oh and Dead Money for easy way to break your 360 controller.

Truth in that. Also the fact that the elements and emotions they focus on for each DLC is really extreme. Creepiness for DM and comedy for OWB etc.

Doctor Mobius is really one of my favourite characters of this expansion. First of all the homily joke is a reference to an out of character sketch from Penny Arcade, and he's voiced by the same guy that did Liquid in Metal Gear Solid. Yes, he's actually so good at doing the silly old man routine that he reused his Doctor Mobius voice for when he voiced the Sage from Bravely Default.

Given that he is the 'evil' mad scientist, the Custard-Mustard line is a bit disturbing, once you read something into it and overthink it. Custard: Some Food Iteam. Mustard: Also food. Maybe Mustard-Gas, trough...
