One detail I really like about Macready is that when you go and take him to Vault 111. You can go visit your dead spouse and when Macready is by your side he will say, "I'm sorry, this must be really hard. I will leave you alone for now." Then he proceeds to walk away. i personally read maccready as being a little depressed when you first start wandering with him which is why he’s my favorite character, i relate to him 100%. he talks about if him & his son had died with his wife, and when you reach highest affinity he says you saved him from himself. which is like, very common symptoms of depression. hes a really complex character and i love him so much for that reason

Mac&Chesey has one of the best rewards in the game, because instead of getting some lame ass gun that you'll probably throw into storage forever, he actually gives you something that holds meaning and shows true friendship is one of the best things in Fallout 4 and is why I love the game so much!!! Bethesda’s ability to make such great stories are amazing. I remember when I first met MacCready; I was reluctant to have him as a companion at first as I didn’t think he had morales and was greedy. But every time I helped him out and he told me his story, I eventually came submerged with the story and feeling as if he was real. It’s great how just spending time with him shows his true character, and how good of a character he is. He is definitely hands down my favourite companion and one of the best in Fallout 4.

MacCready is the one companion I never messed with. Early on I was told his perk was bugged so I started shying away from him, and kept it up. *sigh*. Makes me wonder --- WHICH kids or young people in Fallout 4 COULD be a possible returning character in Fallout 5 should Bethesda continue the series? Austin from Vault 81 perhaps? Maybe the cure had some other beneficial effects. The Ghoul kid Billy? Maybe one of the Atom Cats as a mellow senior citizen?

Yeah, MacCready's perk was bugged so it made me never miss a headshot. I could destroy whole camps of super mutants or raiders in seconds from 300 feet away. Awesome fun. Then they patched it. Damn. I want Duncan MacCready in FO5. A lot of us want to know if he survived seeing as MacCready never goes to see him.

@Jacob St.Clair Is it possible that he saw her as a friend as a kid in LL, but then left the settlement at sixteen (she is a year younger in the F03), and the"met" her again, but now saw her as a potential mate once she wasn't still living with the other kids? It might be just my personal head canon because I can't find a solid piece of evidence otherwise, but maybe the developers and writers just shorten his retelling of the backstory a little for the sake of the game dialog not being too long. If you have played FO3, in a play through you might never hear the side story that she put him back together again after the cave-in, that they spend a lot of time together ever since, or that he calls her his best girl. Or that "Princess" is supremely crushing on him and jealous of his devotion to Lucy in LL.

I think that MacCready and Lucy lived in the Commonwealth long enough for their son to be born, then went back to the capital intent on starting a farm. But on the way they stopped at a metro station. It just makes more sense in that order.

Apparently MacCready is 22, assuming his wife was a similar age (slightly older or younger) The Timeline feels a little rushed, but I'm going to hazard a guess that his son is around 4 maybe 5, 6 at the absolute oldest (assuming he and Lucy had Duncan almost immediatly after they got married, which was probabbly not long after MacCready left Little Lamplight) Since Duncan was playing outside when he got sick, he'd have to be old enough to play outside by himself or atleast supervised by one of his parents.

I love the line where he says he Doesn't like Doctors It really ties the Two games together "I'm the Closest thing this place has to a Doctor" - Lucy of Little Lamp Light She wasn't a Doctor, but she had a Healing Mindset, she probably never became a Doctor, but she didn't really need to. She saved Macreadys life, probably everyone's tbh. I'm pretty sure she's the one with his Son, most people who haven't heard of a Disease, wouldn't try to Cure it. But, most people wouldn't be able to do what she did, with so few Supplies

MacCready is the only reason why I choose the Child at Heart Perk in Fallout 3. I love having the little conversation about butt faces with him when you first enter Little Lamplight. Always makes me smile. I do hope that conversation gets mentioned when Ox does a video on that location.
