"Sirenes": Pure magic. I'm mesmerised. The choice of teenage girls instead of adult women is brilliant. They sing with little or no vibrato and their faces are unforgettable.

Brilliant move to have the three trumpeters in Fetes facing the wall away from the audience to give that far away "over the hills" suggestion and then turn back in unison to really capture the dynamic difference - though still muted with a straight mute. I've never seen that but now I can't imagine it any other way.

This was a fine, fine, and lovely performance. I particularly loved the young women's chorus. Instead of having an other worldly sound it sounded young and earthy. I thought of the Bacchae and the chorus dressed in chitons or himatons with wreaths in their hair. A fresh performance thank you very much. Aloha from Hawai'i.

Klare und wunderschöne Aufführung dieses impressionistischen Meisterwerks mit durchsichtigen und perfekt synchronisierten Tönen aller Instrumente sowie himmlischen Stimmen des ausgezeichneten Frauenchors. Yes, Yes, Yes, "Ach du lieber, mein schatz"!!! I've been watching classical music videos on my tablets for many years. This particular video is without doubt the best one I've ever seen AND heard!! The video was extra sharp & clear; the sound was most excellent; the camera work was tremendous; AND the music was OUTSTANDINGLY gorgeous! The camera man did such an excellent job of highlighting most every player & singer, especially those lovely young girls as they sung, something their parents would be so proud to see! And Mr. Mikko Frank was a wonderful example, to me at least, of what a fine fine looking conductor should look like, very clean cut!! And he's FINNISH too! It's always such a pleasure to see the musicians "animated" & "into" the music! At 82, I believe this video quality & performers AND music was probably the BEST I've ever enjoyed! Whoever gets the "credit", outside of Claude Debussy, you did a "bang up job"!!! "Gesundheit"!!!!! I'm still STUNNED!

“Ach du lieber, mein schatz”!!! “Viva la FWANCE”! “Se manifique”! Awesome piece of great great music! There must have been something in that French wine when Debussy wrote this fabulous music!!! My ears were “dancing for joy” hearing this wonderful wonderful music & performance! That “Cor Anglais” (“English horn” or “haughtboy”) performance was gorgeous, probably my favorite instrument in all the orchestra! Thank your Mr.Claude Debussy for making my “short life of 81 years” such a wonderful experience!!! AND Mr. Mikko Franck - thank you sir for looking so “neat & clean” & bringing great respect to the world of orchestral conductors!!! “Viva le Finland” too! Your country should be very proud of you, as I am as an American! My head will be “dancing on my pillow” tonight when I “TRY” to sleep! “Beau Soir, mon ami”!!!

@@markemanuele1929 I saw Berlin PO do this in Carnegie Hall and the singers were dispersed throughout the orchestra. It sounded great, but I'm not sure many choruses would be able to accomplish this.

The first movement feels very very in 6/4, specially from the strings. But it was obviously not corrected by the conductor. One two three four five six one two three four five six. It destroys exactly the effect of suspended clouds. The recording makes also sound the first stands of the strings much louder than the rest which kills homogeneity in the different divisi voices. You hear always the concertmaster alone even in tuttis. Strange microphoning. The duo, concertmaster-solo cello has two completely different vibratos and that destroys de homogeneity of the double octaves they have together. One should try to play in function of the duo, it is not a solo.
