Welcome to our Spotlight Sessions, a series dedicated to conversations with change-makers and people that have made an impact on the community of people with disabilities.
In this episode, we had the opportunity to speak with Claude Foster, Director of Program Operations of OPARC. OPARC was originally established in 1950, initially started by a group of mothers in the local area who had young kids with significant disabilities and were unsatisfied with the types of support available to them. They banded together, becoming disability advocates and later founded OPARC. OPARC now exists to make training, employment, and social opportunities available, and to be the champion for thousands of people with disabilities in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles County.
Claude Foster shared his thoughts on the following topics:
1. How he began his journey with OPARC.
2. The types of programs OPARC currently offers.
3. How OPARC helps people through the whole journey of not only finding a job but also maintaining it.
4. How the ‘Reliables Club’ made a real impact.
5. The benefits of integrating people with disabilities into business talent pools.
6. Why accessibility simply means consideration.
