Hi there, do you support people in New Zealand? I have just started taking naltrexone but in NZ they only prescribe it for abstinence. I was abstinent for 5 days and to be honest it wasn't too difficult. Then I starting reading about the Sinclair Method and it recommends to keep drinking. So I had a few drinks tonight - but I'm not sure if I should drink if I don't really feel like it?

@@fifipips4553 Sinclair method works the way that you drink when you feel like it but never without naltrexone. In case you already rarly feel like drinking the better it is. you don't have to push it. Naltrexone also has a little effect in preventing the craving (when being sober) but it only has a little effect and does not work for everyone. but that is, why it is prescribed this way.

@@fifipips4553- just remember: don’t take Naltrexone if you aren’t drinking. I found half a pill (25 mg) an hour before drinking was all I needed. Every week or so I might have 1 or 2 gls of wine on Naltrexone, but then I lose interest and stop. No need to force anything…

Claudia Christian, I can’t thank you enough!!!! Thank you thank you sooooo much…. I write this with tears in my eyes! For like a million years I feel normal… my brain head feels normal! Yesterday I took my first pill of 50mg and drank wine… it tasted bitter and I was really not interested in it…. Then after like maybe an hour I drunk it and it tasted alright so I carried on and had 3 more glasses…. But I wasn’t like before where I Wd be wanting more and thinking of even getting another bottle…. Then I went to sleep and this morning I just felt different, calm, no signs of depression and hardly a hungover. It’s the beginning, and will keep you updated.

I started taking the Vivitrol shot last year and am 3 days away from being one year sober. This has been the very best year of my life. I am completely focused and healthy! I am trying to promote Vivitrol as much as I possibly can, but very few people have heard of it including doctors and healthcare workers. It is a miracle drug that needs to be promoted so much more.
@wilbersays4633 Жыл бұрын
Sinclair Method is totally different, though. Vivitrol is an opioid receptor antagonist like naltrexone, but you only take it when drinking. If you take it constantly then you sensitise/up-regulate your receptors so if you miss a dose you are at risk of relapse. Similarly, when not on the drug you get to enjoy endorphin-producing activities like exercise & sex without the dampener so it encourages healthy behaviours

I’m on year 4 with Naltrexone. After 45 years of solid hard drinking , I rarely drink these days. And if I do , I can barely finish a glass of wine. I take it every other day with my vitamins …. Regardless of whether I’ll be drinking that day or not. If I did the Sinclair Method , I know me , I’d skip taking it just to get “ that old buzz “ again.

Great video Claudia& Katie!!!! I just started Naltrexone 3 weeks ago. Went great the first couple of weeks. But, now my drinking is increasing. Kind of worried. Thinking this might take 3 to 6 months, or longer. Think my drinking is more out of habit, than craving. Dealing with some relationship issues over here. Hard for me to handle. I just start drinking. Also, I've been drinking for 50 years. It's probably gonna take Naltrexone alot longer to work on me. This is my last resort. I've done rehab & AA, 30 years ago. Started drinking again 6 months later. I'm hoping Naltrexone is going to work for me. Love your videos. Thanks so much. P.S. Yeah Claudia, just can't pop the pill and hope for the best. It's more to it......

Is the increased drinking a side effect? Have you had any side effects?
@stevecooper70383 жыл бұрын
Completely normal, TSM isn't a linear reduction in your drinking and it's normal to see spikes in your drinking along the journey to extinction. What you always MUST do is remain 100% compliant to the protocol - this is non negotiable and VITAL for success. The average time to reach pharmacological extinction is between 9-12 month, for some people it can be considerably longer. Remember, you didn't learn your AUD in a few weeks, months or even years and it takes time to re-wired the brain at neurological level back to pre AUD levels.

I think the movie “one little pill” 💊 should be remade or have a updated version of the movie as Claudia now knows much more than ever about the medication and how the lack of having a solid foundation of principles maybe of AA would be of great benefit to those struggling with alcohol addiction/dependence. So much more should be and can be added to a newly updated movie about Naltrexone. I hope Claudia here’s this and thinks about it 🙏

Amazing video. I had a question (maybe dumb question) since I will be starting TCM tomorrow… if you take the pill thinking that you will be in a situation that you will have a drink, do you HAVE to have a drink? I have been doing so much research and I haven’t seen the answer to that anywhere. If you take the pill and there isn’t alcohol around when you think there might be is that bad? Thanks for all you do Katie

Throughout this interview I can’t but help to think back on years past where Claudia sat with others on radio stations, talk shows, pos casts etc and they ALL brought up the issues of not having a foundation of skills like a 12 step program to deal with everything she’s talking about. Had she done so I can’t help but wonder at how different the entire process would have been for her especially during times of her not being able to cope. That’s all those programs teach one is how to cope with life. She really needs to release an updated version of “one little pill” because I feel that certain sections are misleading. Just like she is wanting the name of the book to be renamed bc she now knows it’s NOT a cure to alcoholism and the monster is still there, not what was said before in the past. With that she has definitely brought a TON of awareness to this medication 💊 where no one had heard of it for alcoholism, for that I applauded her 👏

i am also trying to start with the method. It is not easy to do in the Netherlands, virtually nothing about this method here. But I found someone who has experience, and the next step is I try to get the Naltrexone from subscription from the GP. But I also take note of the book of Allen Carr with his how to stop drinking method. That apparantly can give complete abstinance not by using willpower. A combination of both techniques could be a good one, first Sinclair method, followed by the Allen Carr method, while always having Naltrexone pills with you forever. Have it with several angles that do not include things like willpower.

So I guess I will have to take this the rest of my life 🙄 I've been having sleep issues on it, was given the lowest dosage and told to cut it in half yesterday I cut that in half as well. As we say in AA. Once an alcoholic, you’re always an alcoholic. The addiction is just there waiting for you to pick up again. But with Naltrexone, you don’t enjoy it as before. Hard to explain. I’m sure she’ll drink again, but if she continues with the Sinclair Method, she’ll be ok. It’s a slippery slope. Any alcoholic can tell you that.

No offense, there was much great information communicated... but you two have no real idea what real alcohol dependence is like. You were both light drinkers simply lacking accountability. A truly dependant alcohol abuser can not go more than two hours without a few drinks. Consider yourselves lucky that you never had to truly battle with alcohol.
