For years but I’d stop when I realize I don’t have any events or anything to plan. But now I use it more for just calendars and brain dumping. Whatever my dumping consist then I do planning in the calendars or I break them down. My brain is so cluttered and dumping it helps me more

I tried to start bullet journaling this year, but I was so caught up in the "aesthetic" and "artsy" spreads. But your videos have really helped me to bullet journal in a minimalist and efficient way! You have really helped make my bullet journal experience successful and helped make my life organized. I was so close to quitting, but then I saw your KZbin videos. I just want to say thank you!!

I really resonate with lesson 2 about perfectionism. Recently, I've adopted the motto "things are meant to be used", which has really helped me deal with perfectionism. It's okay to not use your best handwriting in your fancy notebook because your notebook is supposed to be used for your writing! It's okay to get your new trainers dirty and muddy because they're meant to be worn! It just means they're more loved and more used. Thinking like this has really helped me to shift my mindset and chill out :) No one's gonna see your bujo so it doesn't need to be perfect as long as it works for you

I love how i changed my bullet journal from " meant to be pretty " to " my own personal space " and embracing mistakes i made. I used to let social media trick me into thinking that my bujo is supposed to be like theirs, that mindset destroys my pure purpose of bullet journaling - to heal and to put my life together. " aesthetic " is so toxic if you let it be. I hope anyone that thinks of bujo awares of one thing : mistake is a process of getting to know yourself better, that's completely okay.

number 6 is so accurate. i was reading Ryder Carrolls book ‘The Bullet Journal Method’ and he talked a lot about taking time away from electronics. my favourite suggestion in the book was to turn off devices and then write a end of the day reflection and not turn devices on again until a morning entry was recorded. i have been following this suggestion for a week or so and it’s difficult, but so rewarding. i don’t worry about my phone until i open my journal and have wrote down something to help get me moving, like gratitude.

oh that's so cool! i've yet to read that book. thank you for sharing because i may just implement that into my routine. and i can totally see how difficult it can be to form this habit since we can be quite attached to our devices!

This made me laugh, because when I explained bullet journaling to my partner ... I knew what his reaction would be --- "can't you just do that in an app?". But this is the point, isn't it ... returning to slow, mindful, analog ... it isn't feeding you content & information, its about you creating your content & information. There is a massive difference there to be understood. And besides ... no app could ever be so flexible, personal, tailored ... and apps & their IP is all about monetisation ... oh look, so many reasons for just 'No!'. It prompted an interesting conversation about technology (where we both work), and us as people, & having healthier boundaries with tech & information. I haven't started journaling yet ... I've been considering it for a while, but I don't want to pick it up & then get overwhelmed & stuff it in the drawer. Or get confused as to what I'm trying to do, or feel a slave to it. So I'm trying to dump all my wants, expectations, needs from journaling into a mind map & then organise it all & look at what it can realistically do for me, and where to start, what to include, what not to include ... I'm almost there. While I've researched my mind has shifted about 10 times. But what has been clear from the beginning is - its mine, for me, however it is that I want it to look, to function, to drive me, to assist me, to heal me, etc. In fact, figuring that out is the challenge. I'm enjoying learning about ways in which other people journal & what they use & enjoy - its giving me ideas that I want to try on and see if I they work for me too, or with tweaks could really help me learn more about myself, etc.

Having time away from electronic devices. This is so key. I need to incorporate this so much more in my life. I often go for walks, hikes and take my dogs for walks but I need to remember to just leave my phone inside. I usually like bringing my phone because I like that it records my steps but I need to be mindful and just mentally add those steps.

As a weight lifter, I'm always tracking my progress in a notebook (separate from my bujo). It's one of the main reasons I've had great progress over the years in that regard. Tracking and being mindful of your progress, in many other areas is really helpful.

I discovered bullet journaling about 2 years ago from my 20something daughter. I didn't like it. Where was the journal part? Then I felt the need to reorganize my days/life... because of Covid and teaching from home. I reexamined bujo and realized that I could create what works for me: one part organized and planned and one part for writing everyday. To simplify, I created the pages that I needed: monthly calendar, month objectives/focus, gratitude, health/routines and weekly spreads for one month. Then I start journaling. This system is perfect for me. Like you said: do what works for you.

My 11 year old niece just informed me about bullet journaling on April 30, 2022. She wanted someone to do this with her. I found setting it up difficult as I had no idea how this would not duplicate things I already do either in my paper agenda or digital items like reminders. Plus ⅔ of the KZbin videos seems far too perfect and artistic to achieve. Some of these lessons really resonated with me. I’m glad I watched this.

Claudia...thanks for an inspiring video as always. It were really a list of experince sharing aspects so useful for all of us. I had a traditionela diary as a young boy, started with some kind of journaling say 10 tears ago on aspects, lists, news, tips on wine and food, etc .....until I stumbled upon the BuJo as a concept via KZbin a year ago or so, and it was a revolutionary thing for me to se the difference between the trad diary or journal and the BuJo. Thanks to your videos on how you recommend the use of BuJo it is so easy to disregard the sometimes 'scary' version you find on Pinterest and other places. I definitely chhose your way to use it without the artsy stuff. Looking forward for next video from you. All the best.

These hints are so very helpful! As I use my bujo, I will start to pay more attention to most of these lessons. I’ve been on and off for a few years, but consistent the first half of this year and part of last. My favorite thing to help with my bujo is to use erasable pens like the pilot frixion pens, so I don’t need to stress about a mistake. Looks like pen but fixable without whiteout, at least on scheduling pages. Thanks for the honest and real video!

That's also the reason i started a bujo in first place. i wanted create a planner with what i need and what is really working for me without pages i don't need. I wanted in my basic routine some space for my planning part without an electronic device. For now i stick with that to make these working for me. I've been bujo'ing for a year now. I can say for certain that it's better than what I was doing before which was either nothing, or just writing to-do lists, or using a to-do phone app. When you physically write - it engages a different part of the brain and has been known to have a therapeutic effect as well as helping with logic. I don't know if inputting in to a digital device does the same. Also, looking at LED screens is bad for the eyes.(says the guy who's looking at one right now)

You helped me get back into bullet journaling and my interest is starting to wane again. I remembered your popular video and a rule was "don't pre-schedule too far ahead." I realized that I was pre-scheduling so far in the future that if I had a busy week or didn't keep up the momentum it would all fall apart and I would have pages of empty spreads. I'm going to start again and start slow, this time. 🙂

This whole video is so relatable, especially the part where you've done less today compared to yesterday and feeling like crap because of it. I think that way cause I'm anxious to waste so much time with the fear of one day I won't be able to draw. Your tips can be applied on so many things, thank you, I needed to hear all of this today ♡ I started Bujo in April of this year, before I even made it I did a lot of research for a whole week to see why I'd use a Bujo, for what reasons, what spreads would I try out. Plus, it's much more satisfying to check off your task in written form, instead of -click- done uwu ♡

You know sometimes I feel like I’m lazy because I don’t study enough, but then I remember that there actually isn’t anything to study. I currently have winter break and my next exam is at the beginning of February. I can’t study for that as we haven’t even started the topic yet. However, if I wanted to study, i would just have to get my Flashcards from last year as it is mostly a similar topic. I’m not saying that I would like to study in the holidays, but even if I wanted to, it would be pointless to start now. Sometimes there just isn’t stuff to do and that’s okay.

1. you learn by trial and error. You are not defined by your mistakes. You don't have to copy others' bujo spreads 2. Done is better than perfect. Stop pefectionism and perfect spreads. 3. Focus on your own life than on other's. Don't compare yourself to other's that are on social media (which is heavily photoshopped). 4.not every day is equal. Being productive is impossible every day 5.you learn a lot with bujo 6.it's great being away from gadgets

Very beautiful and Informative video. I agree completely with 2 point of yours as I too do the same thing. 1st is I have a lot of issue with perfectionism as I have a lot of notebooks which I don't use because I don't want to waste it and I'm trying to work on it and not only books but many other things too. Perfectionism is something I badly struggle with and I'm also working on just doing it and not run behind it to be perfect. Secondly the last point I too love to write on paper than typing on word. I think writing on paper makes it easier to let your feeling flow I say that as I write fanfiction and it is very easy to write your ideas once you get them that is the reason I have a lot of draft papers with me and this also helps in adding more ideas when you transfer them to Word. I too have been over using my digital products be it phone or pc. But I still try to lessen the usage of it so I've thought to try out different types of journaling methods. Very helpful tips will be working on them too. ❤️❤️❤️

I started in the start of the summer vacation Bc in this time i could already improve allot Bc i wanted to start this for sxcool but. If id start this at the time school starts id be kind of overwhlmed not knowing how exactly it would work so it is better to practise in the vacation.

I am a freelance artist and you will not find a single drawing in my Bullet Journal. Rough conceptual doodles yes, but no refined pieces or delicate watercolor paintings. Why? Because it is my command center. In there I will jot down what I learn, organize projects and plan my weeks. It is a tool and it is there so make my days easier. If it is pretty I don't wanna use it

You have described yourself as an overachiever several times in this video but, in the same video, say you are very self-depricating..?
@claudiaspaurel
@claudiaspaurel 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, yeah I know it sounds very contradicting haha I think I've grown up with this need to have to achieve so I could be worthy. And the self-deprecation comes from being always told I would never amount to anything. And I think over time, it became my "voice" in getting me to get through tough seasons in my life. I'm definitely working on unlearning these unhealthy parts of myself! :)
@Jon-hb6gx
@Jon-hb6gx 2 жыл бұрын
@@claudiaspaurel That's I what I thought it might be; you and I are very similar. I was lucky enough to get a therapist through work and she told me I'm a "striver". An overachiever is something a bit different (in short, it's the opposite of an underachiever and I don't think that's the vibe you were going for - I could be wrong). I don't think you are saying you're good at everything, I think you're saying you strive to be great and (sometimes) not for healthy reasons. For me (and maybe you too) being a beginner at something can be difficult and I can lose interest because of the self talk you mentioned. Failing at something feels like it means I'M a failure. I'm pretty great at the things I'm great at (as are you, clearly!) and that is our safe place. I'm so sorry if I overstepped the mark here but I got curious. Starting my second bullet journal this year, just came across your fantastic video and am now a happy subscriber. Sending you a really loud high five from England : D
