The best explanation of fitting air horns I've seen, and I've watched quite a lot.

Good job. For anyone interested: The Specification calls for a 20A inline fuse on the large battery + Lead to the Relay. The wire size for the horn to Relay and Horn to Ground should be 14 Ga(2.5MM2) on 12v systems. Shrink wrapping the crimps will help weather proof them too. ;) It’s a good horn. Much better than stock.

I buy crimps that include shrink wrap at WEST Marine

Thanks for the refresher. I install them on many of my bikes and many times they have saved my butt in traffic. Periodically operating the horn will help it remain reliable and ready when you need it, and I use marine-grade wiring and components that I buy at my local marine supply house.

could you also have the stock horn still working at the same time, to give a dual tone effect? did you say that little piece that attaches if you need to fit an air hose is a filter? thanks

You could still run a second horn, the relay basically makes this a stand alone horn, you could just split your factory horn wires and run to the factory horn. Since the unit is a direct drive air horn it doesn't have a secondary or a pressure tank like a truck or train horn would have, the hole is where the air sucks into the unit, the little piece of fiber is just to keep it from sucking dirt into the unit. Thanks for watching hope that answers your question.

Would that relay run 2 of those horns? Thanks!

iv'e got a 2019 kawasaki voyager and tested the wires going to the horn and the horn is being fed a constant 12 volt. the horn button actually supplies the ground for the horn. so i'm thinking #30 would be battery.. # 86 would be the 12 volt that was going to the horn.. # 87 would be the positive to the steble horn and # 85 would be the ground coming from the button. so the relay would have no ground until i hit the button sending # 30 to # 87. the way you wired yours up seems to me that the positive run threw your horn button. if thats the case i wonder why they changed that.

Not sure why the change. I know I’ve used that relay for different things in different ways. I did led lights in my van sent the hot to the relay and just ran grounds to the switches so the relay is hot but not grounded so any switch you turn on will close and turn the lights on. If your horn is fed by a constant hot when you hit the button even with the bike off the horn would or should blow because you create the ground. Not sure why you would want the horn to blow with key off but maybe some safety change or something?

@@RagerJackOfAll horn is only fed 12 volt with key on. i just thought it funny that they would change the horn button to a neg. instead of the positive. maybe they thought the button would last longer. but it does'nt matter whether it pos or neg you still have the arking in the horn contacts. but just thought you would like to know that the wiring definitely needs to be checked. the way i found out was.. i bought a one wire horn that comes on a jlg telehandler that was super loud. when i wired the positive to the horn and grounded the horn on the mount. then i turned the switch on and the horn started blowing. this is the first time iv'e ever seen ground run threw the horn button on a bike. cars are set up to run the horn threw the ground.

@@3Wlonerider Yea I grew up on cars so I'm not sure why the switch either. If hot all the time an you just ground if you make a mistake and create a bad ground somewhere else could easily cause a battery draw and leave you sitting and digging for hours to figure out whats going on. I've had a couple old bikes from the 70's that were like that but most of the stuff today is not like that. Thanks for bringing it up, I'm sure someone out there will hook it up the way I described for the 18 and not check and I'll get the "you don't know what your doing" message. lol Have a great day..

These horn on my motorcycle drained the battery within a month...What can be the problem...I didn't use it much ...what battery specifications are recommended to use these horn

Manoj Pujari check your ground that is usually the culprit even with amplifiers. Make sure it is a clean ground or try to ground at the battery if you haven’t. The other possibility is check your hot wire make sure it is key on and not constant but I’d start with the ground.

So I can't just buy it... Install on my motorcycle and job done
@RagerJackOfAll
@RagerJackOfAll 2 жыл бұрын
You could unless you bought if for your car, then you couldn't just put it on your motorcycle. It's also possible you bought it for a truck, that case you really couldn't just put it on your motorcycle and get the job done either... Now it is possible you wanted to use it for a personal protection horn, like a rape whistle, you could modify it then and put it on your motorcycle but would have to go on or near the back seat to get the job done. Thanks for watching, and taking a minute to leave a comment.
