I backpacked for three weeks in march 2010 to the following places:Yangon, Pathein, Chauntha, Pyay, Mandalay, Mektila, Bagan, Pakoku, Inle Lake.
The people was very friendly and the travel was hard, but a real experience. I can truly recommend you to go and have a look, if you want adventure.

I was out sightseeing in the country side when I heard some loud music. I followed the sound and found out a wedding was in full action. The whole city was invited for the party and then I also were invited and had some nudles. Great hospitallity.

You are right. Happiness does not come from how much money or how many things you own, no happiness comes from being present in the moment. That is why poor people often are more happy, because they do not have to worry about all there money and things. That is why I like to travel in poor countries. To get reminded about the true values of life.

Great video, thank you for posting this video. I miss my country. I hope you have a good trip. You may have experienced bad people, bad transportation, not hygiene food, not proper hotel, etc, but you only shear positive things; thanks again for great positive open minded. All that bad things are because of the government. Over 60 years the military corrupted government destroyed our country the civilian are suffer a lot. We just step up to democracy, we need supporting around the world and encouraging Burmese people. Who ever visiting Myanmar are same as you help Myanmar, when we got a lot tourist many locals people they got a job. The most you spend your money in locals people hand the most effective to helping.

Hi Hillary. That would be great with a guide next time, because I am sure there will be a next time. I want to go and see the changes, that The Lady has started, and visit the people again, but next time I think it will be on a bicycle. Regards Claus.

I hope you saw a different version of life. Our people are not rich but we are friendly and happy with what we have. You will see poor people living a happy life compared to rich people in the rest of the world living a stressful and unhappy life. Welcome to Myanmar!

You are somehow right. They are not happy, because they are poor, but because they live in the moment and that is what we can learn from them. No I do not want to give up my life, but I want to connect with other countries, so we can learn form each other. Glad you liked the video. Claus.

Yes you are right, but I think it will take many years before the tourists will make an impact on your culture. I will never forget the boat trip from Rangoon to Pathein where i got a 50x180 cm spot of my own on the deck and in the big crowd meet a lot of nice people, because as we say in Denmark - we were in the same boat - meaning we shared the same conditions. So my advice to other tourists is, don´t go around in tourist busses, go with the locals. BTW you got some great videos. Claus.

Yeah.. but those in tourist industry should start to think about their sustainbility. I second to your advice. Even for us from Yangon etc, when we visit to other towns, the best experience is to mingle with locals there. Thanks!

r u a muslim? Tell me how many muslim countries tolerate the minorities? There's always this discrimination everywhere you go. Unfortunately Myanmar is poor and uneducated. Beside who are you to judge our people. If it wasn't because of the military junta, we would've had a more diverse and educated society.
