I've had my clavicle broken in three different places for about 4 months because I also broke my spine and arm and was wearing a neck brace! I had to wait for my spinal surgery to heal and gain mobility before they could operate. Then, the first doctor changed insurances they accepted so I had to consult with a new one that pushed me back about a month. THEN, two days before my surgery, I caught covid! I finally have my surgery this Monday and am so excited to get mobility back :)

I broke my collarbone about 8 weeks ago! I’m revorering amazingly and 2 weeks ago I even whent to bude doing lots of activities! I do have a lump but it’s fine. I snapped it clean in half and felt no pain. My dad was telling me to do stretches and lifting my arm up before we knew it was broken and I only felt pain when I lifted it up! Luckily I don’t need surgery but I am not fully recovered so.. you never know, but I really really hope I don’t because I’ll have a scar and stuff 😢

Hopefully you won’t need surgery! Yes a scar isn’t great but for me, I needed it.

Oh Emily! So sorry you broke your collar bone and had to wait so long for surgery. That is rough, I can't even imagine. My son broke his collar bone and they put it in a sling just like you said. He did it riding a motorbike. Anyway, I am glad you are doing better. Thank you for your videos, because of you, I was able to have a more positive attitude about my hearing aids. I am doing well with them. I have been noticing the difference when I take the aids out. How do you handle that? I sorta get sad when I take them out.

Thank you for your kind words! I'm so grateful bodies heal! Yay! I'm glad you love your hearing aids. I know what you mean, it can be sad to take hearing aids out because it is easy to see what we miss out on when they're out. I take mine out right before bed. Sometimes I ask my husband if there's anything else he wants to say - that way I know I can take them out and not miss anything. Would that help?

Hi thank you for sharing your experience and journey. You’re so strong. I have a fractured clavicle through my research is a non-union. Been 9 years since the initial break and still in serious pain.. my shoulder and don’t have full range of motion…. Countless orthopedic Dr’s and neurologist no one wants to do the surgery… would you have any suggestions?
@DefiniteHearing

Darn I’m so so sorry to hear this. Most residual pain is due to nerve issues. Usually surgery makes that worse. I recommend keeping yourself occupied in activities that don’t aggravate it. That will help shift your focus away and hopefully offer relief.

Am glad your clavicle has healed! I know it was hard to put your hearing aids in when your arm was in a sling! I was interested to know as it looked quite serious! Your hearing aid advice has been so good! Since I was told I had usher's syndrome type 3 it's been getting harder! My sight is not the best so having to use a white cane at night & in poor light so my medical record state I am on the DeafBlind spectrum! It's maybe like when you take your contacts out how much can you see? Would it mean if there was no such thing as glasses would you say you would be Deafblind? We rely so much on hearing aids & glasses if both break at the same time the world would be very scary! Your video's are like a breath of fresh air! Your so passionate about hearing aids that it rubs off! I am helping a young college girl who finds it hard to wear BAHA's she got bullied at school as they are so rare! But after seeing your video's I wanted to give something back & stop the stigma of wearing hearing aids! So God bless you Emily! 💖💖

Hi Barry! I can only see about 5 inches in front of my face with out contacts/glasses before it gets very blurry. I hope my glasses and hearing aids don't break all at once! That would be sad but if they did, I would be very grateful for the time I have had with them. They've helped me learn how to read and speak well. I do think those skills would carry over. Maybe not as well but better than if I had not had them at all.

Hello! Im glad you recovered from your injury and doing marathon now. Thats great! Anyway I also had a recent distal collarbone fracture last September 2021. Its been a long recovery for me since at first it not healing well and needed a bone stimulator to help with healing. Now I think its fully healed and just waiting for my next doctors appointment to confirm it. I also want to ask if you where able to fully get full range of motion on your shoulder cause now my Shoulder is like frozen and have limited reach.
@DefiniteHearing
@DefiniteHearing 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have full range of motion now and the sensitivity is gone - I can wear a backpack again. I'm so sorry you've been in so much pain. Have you been doing physical therapy? That made all the difference for me!

Thanks for your reply. Yes Im doing PT, but it seems like its gonna take forever to get it back in full range. Mine is non surgical healing so i guess thats why its taking longer to improve.

@definite hearing thanks for video! I just had a similar z shape break with plate and 5 screws. When did u start PT? When could you sleep on your side ( ifside sleeper)? Did you have any referred pain, like tricep/bicep? Thank you!
@DefiniteHearing
@DefiniteHearing 2 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly, the doctor didn't order PT! They just said to move my arm as I could without pain. I used to LOVE sleeping on my right shoulder but just can't anymore due to the nerve tingling. I sleep on my left side now. I have nerve damage in my shoulder/top of my humerus, it is painful if someone grabs my shoulder but no bicep or tricep pain.

I had surgery about six days ago and I’m worried that I messed something up by. Just moving my neck around and doing slight movement. I’ve been in a sling almost 24/7. I’m still having some discomfort and pain which I guess is normal.

I recommend talking with your doctor. In some spots for me, yes. It is due to cut nerves. The chance they'll grow back is slim. :(

Broke mine in two places too. My bone chipped and did a a too. The chip almost poking through my skin, hitting a nerve which felt like fire all the way don’t to the front of my shoulder. Waited 9 days for surgery after the accident.

Oh my word. I can totally relate. That is horrible. It is so strange to me that we both had to wait days for our surgery with our bones literally ready to poke through the skin. I hope you're doing better.

Hi there.i am new subscriber to you channel.I hope you are doing well.we have son with cochlear implant left side,right has something left.may I ask you what hearing aids do you use? Ty for your time.
@DefiniteHearing
@DefiniteHearing 2 жыл бұрын
I use ReSound Enzo 3D hearing aids. That said, if your son needs a CI, the hearing aid will not be powerful enough for the ear needing a cochlear implant. Maybe the other ear if the loss is moderate to severe.
