Guys this is so cool! Would have loved to see you use juniper branches like the old Norwegian traditional brewers do. I believe you're supposed to do a war cry when you add the yeast...but I'm not sure how much that contributed to the flavour. Or whether it works with straight up Sacch.
@ClawhammerSupply4 жыл бұрын
Anund sent us a traditional recipe but we weren't able to source everything. He also sent us a registered but obscure Kveik yeast so we'll make sure to do a war cry for that one!

I'm not Norwegian but I do have a wild yeast culture which I'm still experimenting with, it has given me an attenuation of 92% an 88% (I've only made 2 beers with it) and it attenuates nearly all that in just 2 days, then it goes sloooowly eating the rest of the sugars so I don't know yet if I should bottle or not, apparently there is no pedio, no lacto or brett, just some kind of yeast, so I'm letting it sit in the fermentor to see if it's clean from all that other bugs I will have my take on your recipe just changing the yeast for my culture which is mainly neutral, slightly phenolic and it really let's the malt and the hops shine

Hey Emmet @clawhammersupply. Have you ever tried to lift the basket on your own? I'm thinking I wont have a buddy to help me place the basket holders in which case I can use the pulley system but prefer not to.
@ClawhammerSupply4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's definitely possible to lift on your own. Use 2 hands to get it up and allow most of the wort to drain out then switch to 1 and have a clip ready in the other hand.

What is the name of this valve (spray) on the equipment cover?
Do you ever use MALTODEXTRIN in your beers or something similar? I'm new to brewing and I have heard that it should add a nice body and mouthfeel to the beer but I haven't seen you brew with it how come that be?? Btw love your brew videos!!
@ClawhammerSupply4 жыл бұрын
I understanding is that dextrose would actually not add anybody. It's generally used to increase the ABV of a beer without adding body. We've used it maybe once or twice. Only for higher ABV beers which we don't actually brew a lot of! So that's really why we don't use it much

Depends on what you get. They start aDepends on what you get. They start at $349 and go up to $899 for the 10 gal gallon 120v. It's all modular so you can start wherever and then keep adding until you're happy with what you have because it all works together

Why are you leaving the lid on during the boil? I always leave it off
@ClawhammerSupply4 жыл бұрын
We don't completely cover the kettle, the lid is cracked. It actually improves the boil vigor and while still leaving room for vapor escape so overall, in our opinion, it's the best way to boil when using 120 volts and a 1650w element
