Instead of WD-40, I've used plain olive oil as a final finish with excellent results on crinkle paint. Coat the inside of a bowl with a tiny bit of olive oil, wipe it down with a paper towel, wipe that thin sheen onto the crinkle paint, and follow with a light buff with a cotton cloth. There's no odor or greasiness, and the crinkle finish really pops - a great final step to recover a bit of luster after the cleaning leaves the finish looking dull. It only takes a tiny bit of oil for a significant improvement, and you don't have to mess with the fumes and other chemical properties of WD-40.

Hey Joe, if you haven’t tried lemon Endust on crinkle finishes, give it a shot. Works and smells great! John @@inkiron3907

Interesting video i heard you can use the goo stuff you use on keyboards to get to the deep bumps i also heard that you can use the sticky stuff you can set up posters with , and or the erasers which is soft and is like the poster hanging stuff

I have poster stuff and kneadable erasers… might have to try that. I don’t have goop, but it sounds interesting. I feel like I’d rather do it on a computer keyboard because it can’t really ooze deep inside

@@inkiron3907 the goop cannot be used for the keys on typewriters but can I heard be used for the cases on typewriters

Great job! I have a 1936 Royal with black crinkle finish and chrome bands. I've been wondering about the WD-40 on the finish. What would you suggest for any bare metal spots or chips in the paint?

Thanks! My Royal QDL has that black crinkle and chrome finish. I haven’t tried WD-40 on it yet but I will. I don’t touch my chipped paint but I’ve seen others use nail polish for touch ups. You can color match without a buying a can of paint
