Started watching video, stopped after the oven door was removed and had 3 panes of glass--this would be an all day project and my husband would be the one removing and reinstalling the door; his schedule would not allow it. I don't have the strength or wherewithal for the project (in my mid-70s). Thought the first idea, reaching into vent holes with something resembling a yardstick w/paper towels wrapped around the end, sounded plausible. However, I envisioned removing the stick but thepaper towels remain between the glass panes. Dirty window better than framed dirty paper towels. LOL

Haha, well, it's not for everyone. For multi-step tasks like this, I take a pic at each major step then label a small zip-lock plastic bag with that step's #. Then I put the screws, nuts & bolts, etc. for that step into the bag and note that step on my notepad/clipboard. It's a bit slow while taking things apart, but the payoff comes during assembly when I don't have to remember where things went or which screws or bolts were used along the way. And now, with today's mobile phones, a "pic" can also be a "motion photo" -- meaning it's a short video clip. (A feature on my Samsung GS9 phone.) 😁

Ok I did on my 2020 GE profile oven (three panes of glass). It took about 45 minutes. Need a phone camera , Need a T15 TORX driver and 1/4 inch nut driver. Remove door and lay it on a rug or towel on floor or bench. Remove top two top screws from top inside of door. Just loosen enough to free them. Turn door over and remove three machine screws with nut driver at bottom. Other than that pretty much like his video. Suggest nitrile gloves to handle glass. The two inner panes are framed by a steel double channel. There is a tab on one corner that you bend up to release the frame and carefully slide out glass panels for cleaning. The glass is thin so have a towel on a flat surface to clean them. As I said , take picture along the way and Mark holes where screws go if you need to. There are four sets of screws all same length and type with each set so it’s hard to confuse things.

Some door panels have a retaining mastic which stops the glass rattling in the metal frame. To remove the glass, apply gentle pressure in the opposite to the retainer mastic to slide the panels out. Don’t use metal tools on the glass or it’s direct fixtures as cracking, fracturing or breakages will result. I wouldn’t use a steel ruler near the window to clean it as it it could easily penetrate the cleaner cloth or material used to bind it. Those doors are awkward and dependent on the state of your oven, you may need to place a protective covering on the floor in front of it before starting to disrupt any of the fixtures/hinges.

Hi, my oven door assemblies he same as yours, I have done it with no problem but my oven door as a rope/styrofoam arround the preimiter of the door above the glass. It was white/beige, but its really dirty, is there a way to replace this yourself or do I have to call a specialist.

Hi there! That's a good question. What I would recommend is taking a look to see if www.appliancepartspros.com/ has the part you are looking to replace and if they have specific instructions on how to do it for your oven model.

I did this today with the help of my brother, and it wasnt easy at all. Got to clean 6 sides of glass to clean and there were two that I didnt get . Was thinking wonder how much it would cost to replace the glass if you dropped it?
@ThatDadMike2 жыл бұрын
Wow, 6 sides and still more - that's a lot!

I’ve done this. It’s not that hard. Well worth the effort.

I have, too. I’m a 5’3” female, so it wasn’t easy, but I accomplished it. Take pictures as you go.

@@dale3404 Yes. I did too ! Thank goodness we have our phones now to do that. I have a funny story about taking something apart and putting it back together. I taught fourth grade for 30 years. I had to take apart an overhead projector to clean the two pieces of glass and change a bulb and remove a bunch of dust and a few bugs. I took it apart, cleaned everything and put it back together. Turned it on and it worked great. About that time my principal came in and checked on my progress. I proudly showed him the newly cleaned and working projector. And I raised a baggie from the desk and said “ I even have some left over parts!” We had a good laugh after he got over his shock. At least it worked. I don’t know what the extra parts were for to this day! 🤔🤔🤔😁😁😁

You lost me in the first 3 seconds... watching you remove the door. That's just not going to happen in my house, LOL! Thanks anyway!

Same here, thought this is my Sunday sorted. Then he said, remove the door. Just no.

Thanks for that info!!! I’m not sure I would get it back together ! Lol But I would definitely give it a try. Wonder why they don’t seal them so this doesn’t happen
