In this video, I show how to clean and deodorize the trunk of your car, SUV, or hatchback on a budget. Most spills such as milk, gasoline, and other chemicals happen in the trunk or hatch area. the materials found in those areas are cheap and stubborn to work with. Also called Nylon Cut Pile. Original in most vehicles from the mid 1970's to present. 3/8" cut pile height with smooth, even, face appearance.

What tips do you have for that stubborn, entry level carpeting in trunks and cargo areas?
@1stfrompuertorico568

I use CLR or an APC but all cleaning depends on evaluation. I have cleaned extremely good trunks that I just have used the vacuum cleaner, but also some that had so much filth that I had to remove all and suggest the customer that it would be less expensive to replace the carpeting as well as the seal rubber. Had one that all carpet had concrete and paint so it was not worth it saving it. Once all replaced then protect it. When it is a normally dirty trunk, I remove debris with vacuum and use the GG6 to perform vibration on the carpet in order to lift sand and dirt while vacuuming, to clean use a drill brush maybe with APC and instead of Tide, I use All Clear with distilled white vinegar because it removes all scent too. Also have used the P&S carpet bomber, terminator and finisher, and also their extreme carpet stain remover as well as their foaming carpet cleaner and deodorizer with spearmint, even sometimes something as simple as Meguiars Carpet and Upholstery cleaner that has a new car scent

I've watched almost every video you have ever produced and this was one of my favorites. Mainly because - as you noted - this is a low tech economical approach to cleaning the interior of a car. With hundreds of products on the market for detailers to choose from, it is nice to know that many times you have in your pantry exactly what you need to complete the job.

For trunks like this or even leather interiors (i.e. vynil coated), Woolite works pretty well. Here in Montreal, Canada, most people have some kind of mat, like a WeatherTech, to prevent staining and make cleaning easier! Also, coating the trunk fabric with some Scotchguard waterproof stuff is another great prevention trick. Still, having the right tools saves you so much time and effort, and critically, makes you actually do it instead of putting it off!

Just an excellent demonstration. I go back some of you older videos 5 years ago when you did the 1 oz of: Coldwater Tide, Dawn, Oxyclean and Superclean of all combo. I still use today👍. And your heavy hitter Spray Nine. I can’t thank you enough for all I’ve learned from your channel 🫡👌🤗👍🤜🏽🙏🏽

Excellent as always. More like a refresher course from years ago. As a DIY’er in my early days, as I was learning ( a lot from your early videos, I did this mostly on fabric seats and interior rugs. Now after doing it professionally for several years with “expense”tooling , the one thing I like the best, is to remove the rear fabric covered..whatever it is , and use a tornador to blow out the sand so🎉 prevalent on Maui. Then vac and evaluate what has to be done to get back to as new as I can. No question this method works, I’ve done it several times

Brian, my 2004 mach1 does not have that epoxy along top or sides. As a matter of fact, it is painted with a clear coat finish. I clean out the dust when I wash the car . I even spray some seal and shine in there. Btw, just did a lexus ES350 with gold carpeting. the owner had spilled coffee and never cleaned it. I hit it with tuff stuff and a a wet towel. I was able to get it out. In my trunk I have an after market mat with the mach1 wording on it.

Lol! Your explanations are priceless. I didn't know you were getting another shop. What to do with trunk gasket, or for that matter, any door gasket or seal? Does it pay? Some of the gaskets get old and hard and fall apart. What do you use on them? You're right about carpeting. I mean, is it really carpeting? Cheap trash is what I call it! Fun video. Good way to use what we have on hand. Nice! Thanks Brian.
