What you should do is empty out the old oil ,put in cheap new oil with the flush,much better results ,,you won't clean much with dirty oil,,just like you wouldn't clean a floor with dirty water,,

Years ago some guy, either a taxi or driving instructor, changed his oil around half the recommended interval, cannot remember if it was the oil company or the motor company, stripped the engine down and checked it, they found it was still in tolerance, no wear or scuffing, just a little carbon, this was after some silly miles, any engine will in this condition with regular oil changes, so many people forget or push the service a bit longer, not sure all these additives are needed with proper oil changes.

Cut the oil filter open & look for krusties ... That valve train was clean AF though before the flush. No varnish at all.

You can do same thing by adding 500 ml of diesel fuel to oil it has great cleaning properties and also some lubricity rev it up and drain

Just did this. I drained oil, new filter and added the cleaner with new oil. Ran at 2K for 20 min and drained. It was black.

I think alot people confusing about engine flush product....all brand engine flush defenaly it will works...but not like alot people pour it in and flush it that doesn't show anything especially people saying the oil is clear....1st of all before pouring in engine flush check your piston combustion pressure with a gauges and pour in the engine flush and after the whole cycle is done check again ....u will see the combustion will increase bcos it clean up the sludge or carbon at the piston ring so it can move freely.....this is how we use a engine flush

My testimony is that I used the liqui moly engine flush ( not the pro, the consumer one ) and did a 2nd oil change ( wich turned black again) and then yellow. Keep in mind it's a diesel :) very rare to see a yellow oil in a diesel. It works for sure, no need to keep rpm high tho.

If an engine is properly maintained with high quality oil and filters and changed frequently, say every 5000 miles or 12 months, then there would be no need to use a flush product like this at all. However, if you buy a car second hand and you don't know the full service history then I see this as a worthwhile exercise. Looking at the top of your engine under the valve cover I would say the engine is "clean" already so just needs regular servicing but what you can't see it is state of the oil control rings on the pistons, some engines have poorly designed oil control rings that clog up over time leading to the engine burning oil. A flush like this could well help unclog those rings and reduce oil consumption.

If I hit 5000 miles in 18 months with high quality synthetic oil my question is do I need to change the oil in 12 months (3100 miles) or you can chan ge when you hit 5000 ?? Thanks in advance for your expert advise

@@giuseppecasara1143 to be on the safe side you should change at 12 months. However there are circumstances where you could leave it 18 months, it all depends on the type of driving. 5000 miles over 18 months implies lots of short journeys in which case the oil will get moisture and fuel mixed in with it which will degrade the effectiveness of the oil. If this isn’t the case and your 5000 miles is actually made up from less frequent longer journeys then you may well be ok.

@@andrewhouldcroft1116 Thanks for your prompt reply. When I drive from home I go downhill firstly for 6 miles and then drive twice a week 30 miles on normal road ( no motorways) . I will follow your advise and check the oil with a white cloth after 12 months and see how dark gets ( or if still jellow/orange) and go on for few months but within 18 . My Toyota Corolla Verso 2004 (!47 K Km- 91 K Miles) 1.8 (1zzfe) the oil level remains always on the upper side ( there is no need to add oil in between changes) . In almost 20 years I just have change a bulb and nothing else rather thn normal maintenance. I HAVE NEVER USED a flash product ....

No. It should not. If used according to the instructions. Should only let the engine idle for 10 or 15 minutes with NO load on engine. Engine must be at normal operating temp, as well. Then drain.

I think its better to use diesel as engine flush. keep it running for 5 mins. drain it then use your preferred engine oil and youre good to go

Do you really get black oil quickly on old engines? I haven't, but I've had performance issues that improved with flushing or additive in the oil. Real carbon buildup doesn't come off in the oil, that's why the additive makes a difference. I'm not sure this test proved much though, other than that the oil when you drained it may have been blacker than the initial dipstick test, but even that is not clear to me.

You won't really get the flush worked through the valve train area on idle. You can run the engine with the valve covers removed on idle and oil "barely" seeps up through the pushrods and through the hole in the rockers. It just sort of barely drizzles out of that hole. You have you give it a bit of gas to get the oil to squirt out of that hole and soak everything under the valve covers.

I use the same flush however, I drain oil, fill with new oil and filter add flush run for 10 minutes, drain again refill new oil and filter add 1/2 a can run for 19 minutes, drain again new oil and filter run 10 minutes to remove residual flush, drain again refill new oil and filter. This is on a diesel F150 3.0 oil will be clean for about a week 300 miles all stock. I do this 2-3 times a year. Or every 4 oil changes I run about 40-50000 a year.

I have and we recommend it especially on newer Direct Injection Vehicles to keep the tip of the injector clean as its exposed to the carbon in the combustion chamber.

Back in the day, Product called “Gunk Motor Flush”, used that when I was a teenager. Came in quart size, I only used 1/2 , pour it in, run engine for 5 minutes, then drain engine. I never flush the engine a 2nd time with clean oil. Stop using product, worried GMF might not drain out. Might do more harm than good.

There is risk of cleaning the engine too quickly if it’s been neglected, and blocking vital passages, or vvt screens. In the amount used for most any flush, the dilution could result in additional wear, although likely to an unnoticeable extent

Nope - should let it idle. I tried it today for the first time on my EClass 2.2 Litre Diesel (bought it last year at 34,000 miles and currently on 44,000) Change oil and oil filter after the flush. Tomorrow it has a service booked at Mercedes dealership as I want to make sure any old deposits/junk/flush residue is totally gone (although it has a full service record via Mercedes) But more to your point, it has to idle. If you put your foot on the gas you could be doing damage because if you got 6.5L of oil already in my engine for example that's already on the max line. You are adding 500ml more of liquid, although its within "safe limits" it's still not an ideal scenario as the increased pressure/capacity does no good for any engine beyond its "recommended max" So yeh if a flush is being done it has to IDLE only

We find with higher mileage cars they tend to burn about a litre of oil every 1000 miles so we suggest 5000 to ensure a sufficient amount of oil is maintained.

Exactly. No harm done with a flush but that engine is spotless and doesn't need it (at least under the valve covers), flush probably doesn't hurt cleaning the oil pan in the corners.
