I'm so proud of this video in particular. Resin is not as popular as plastic kits, but even with less views, this resin basics series was something I wish existed back when I was looking for a tutorial with full chronological steps on it. I also feel like I've improved in the production side of things as well. Do you feel the same? Also, I wanted to announce it somehow, but as you must have noticed, I've recently been monetized! It was definitely only possible with your help, and the income helps justify the time I spend on everything required to make these videos. I've hit so many milestones lately on KZbin, and I'd just like to shout out with a huge thank you for your support

Very detailed tutorial for me to follow. The time of editing each video really takes time. Thanks for the hard work. Do you turn on the fan in spray booth when sanding? And how do you handle the sanded particles after work has done? Any hardship of working on resin kits during winter when you can't open window?
@frostedsnow4 жыл бұрын
We do turn on the fan when sanding. Kughee sometimes sands over a wet towel in a tray. I'm lazy and I just sand and wipe it off the table after with a wet wipe. I do however tend to wear a mask cuz I have allergies, while Kughee doesn't (though he should). Our booth is big enough to not worry about windows being open.
@bryanlay51664 жыл бұрын
Wet towel is a good idea. I think I will do the sanding and spraying in garage over the coming winter, I don't want my kids to be affected by resin. Thanks. Btw, I thought you were Korean but surprised to know you speak Cantonese.
@czar_oct4 жыл бұрын
From what I know with car surfacer, it usually comes out a little imperfect because it's meant to be sanded down before applying the paint on it. I'm not sure if all car surfacers are like that but some of the ones I've seen are. Jimmy Oakes talked about it briefly not too long ago when he did a video where he painted an engine bay as well. But applying it on metal vs resin is probably different too 🤔
@frostedsnow4 жыл бұрын
That's too bad :( This one in particular was also very hard to sand off for the purpose of multiple sanding stages when Kughee experimented with it later on his kit. So, it's not even very good for that purpose. No luck in trying to save money here!

Love your videos. I was just curious when sanding with primer on do you still wear a mask to protect yourself from resin dust? Once primed do you need to be concerned with the resin anymore while its lying around? Also saw your previous video on assembly do you need to wear a mask during drilling and pre-assmebly?
@frostedsnow4 жыл бұрын
You should wear a mask for all those things you mentioned I'm sure except maybe the parts after being primed. We don't always and def not recommending it for others. Kughee is really bad with wearing a mask and he also has a poor sense of smell as a result I'm sure. Def wear a mask when sanding!

This is a great next step in the series, and perfectly timed, great job! I got my first kit the other day and I've been following along with your first part for prep work. The kit I'm starting with is actually your kit's brother, the Jesta Cannon! Do you know what "grit" the Koong's surfacer you used is? I plan on using Mr. Color surfacer 500 or 1000. Thanks for all your hard work and easy to follow instructions!

@@frostedsnow thanks! I got it from GK-M as they were recommended to me by some experienced resin enthusiasts. Edit: I dug a bit, and the kit I have is a recast of a Moya kit. I believe that Moya is longer in business as their website isn't available, and I couldn't find any place (easily in English) to buy their original cast kits. Your instructions look the same as mine, but with sharper images. Mine look like they were printed on an ink jet printer that's on its last legs..... @@frostedsnow GK-M (Shop2000, garage kit market) is popular in the states because their site is mostly in English, their staff can read/write English competently, and they take requests for recasts. They're based in Taiwan and stock both original kits from guys like YJL and Stickler Studio, and they do a lot of recasts- of which I'm not sure what their conditions are exactly. I know they have refused to do recasts of sculpts done by someone they know. They only take PayPal as payment, and you have buyer's protection if that matters to you (it should). They ship in a variety of methods, my preferred being DHL as I find them to be the most reliable. They respond to emails within 24 hours normally, and are very accommodating when it comes to modifying orders or canceling pre-ordered items (in most cases). Their shipping costs are baked into the model kit total cost (the shipping price is shown on the kit page and on the initial order list), and they offer deep discounts for their own kits, (indicated by a heart), when purchased with original kits that they stock. I'd call their prices reasonable because they keep a good stock and a wide selection. There are very few English-catering resin kit sites. Another one is Museigen Hobby in Malaysia, of which I have no experience with, but I've heard good things about them. US-based NewtypeHQ keeps a stock of YJL/Anchoret kits that you can purchase with Bandai kits as a bundle, USA Gundam store sometimes gets Stickler Studio and SIMP resin kits/conversions, but I've only seen sporadic inventory from them.
