I came across your 7 year old video. It is very thorough and still applicable today. From experience, my only advice is to use a sheet of plastic or cardboard to work on instead of grass. It is very easy to drop a bolt or something and not be able to find it unless you have a strong magnet. I have a couple of used Q’s, 1000 and 1200. I paid $40.00 for my 1000 with a stand and $23.00 for my 1200. I have had to do a few repairs, but they work very well. Today, I changed out the electronic igniter on my 1200 with an aftermarket part. I use them often to cook a quick meal like salmon or frozen burgers. Two of my three GrillGrates for my Jumbo Joe fit nicely and do an excellent job searing when used upside down.

Awesome video. You are my hero because I was going to toss my grill in the garbage. I didn't think about the push pin in the holes. Excellent presentation!

Sam, I'm happy to hear you can save your grill. If that doesn't get it going like you'd like, you can buy a new burner tube for around $20. That is cheaper than a new grill for sure!

Just picked up a Q1200 at a flee market for $15. They had it in the original Weber box. They said they only used it about 3 times in 2 years while camping. They were moving across the country and no room for a it. Only problem, the ignition button is missing. I cleaned it, its like new. What a find. I ordered a ignition button and a ceramic griddle for it. I've been lighting it with a match for now. Can heat up to 500° in no time

Great video! I own a Q2200 and it’s amazing how well the Q works for around the house and also travels well. Also if I’m going to do a reverse sear steak using my pellet grill I will use the pellet grill to get the steak up to temp and my Q to finish it.

It's a great grill. I'm surprised more people don't have one in the US and go for the bigger grills instead.

Nice job. I have to clean mine each time I use it because I keep it inside, no outside storage for me living in an apartment. I don't want to attract bugs or ants. Just simple wipe down and scrape any big chunks off.
@GrillTopExperience6 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea even when you don't store it inside. If you do that you won't have to do a deep clean. Thanks for watching.

I found one for free on Facebook marketplace. I cleaned it up and hooked it up with hoss that it came with to the regular size bbq propane tank. I noticed the fitting was leaking because it was still wet from being washef. I removed the hose and hookef it up to the smaller one pound propane tank. It worked just fine. After that I removed the lid and scuffed it up with a scotchbrite pad. I painted it with some blue high temp brake caliper paint I got from Autozone. Works good as new.

Just got one yesterday for free. It was missing the grill grate but that was ok since I would have ordered a new grate anyway. A little elbow grease and new grate I have a grill for 37.99-grate cost!

Nice! I should probably replace my grate too it has certainly seen better days.

Could you show how to install the drip tray? Mine doesn't go back into place as easily as yours. In fact it wouldn't come out easily and now won't go back in at all. Thanks
@GrillTopExperience4 жыл бұрын
It should just pop in. Is it bent in some way? If you can't bend it back, there are a few after market options for around $20.

I give my Q 120 a deep cleaning twice a year. Line your drip pan with two layers of foil. Check out the Fire Escape Griller for Weber Q grilling tips. He's good!

Just returned home from a Offerup purchase for $40. Wow is it much greasier than yours was. The burner only half lit so that brought the price down to $40
@GrillTopExperience5 жыл бұрын
It started out cleaner than I thought it was, but I know better after using it a bunch. Those little grills get dirty quick! Nice save at $40!
@45eno5 жыл бұрын
Grill Top Experience yeah it took me a good 3 hours or so yesterday. I took it completely apart except for the grab handles. It is very clean now. The grease drips on the outside caused the paint to bubble and flake off. Does your lid inside paint seem to be holding up, mine has bare metal in spots. Not sure if it was my scrubbing or not, it doesn’t seem like it is easily flaking but the coating certainly coming off if I put effort on it. And I didn’t need a new burner as I wired brush it and pinned out each hole. Thanks for the video.
@45eno5 жыл бұрын
Think I might foil under the burner or cut to shape one of those copper grilling mats to place under it as a removable cleanable liner.
@rodneymaslovsky47563 жыл бұрын
why does the burner tube have those two cuts? looks like someone had a go with a Dremel wheel,

A clean grill is a safe grill. How often do you deep clean your Weber?
@djnodj6 жыл бұрын
Love it! I just got a Q1200 (?or similar) from a neighbor. Dirty as frick, but I'll clean it up and test it out. Neighbor claims it works just fine. I think it's great you show how to approach a used, dirty, AND FUNCTIONAL grill!

Where can I check the model name on my grill?
@GrillTopExperience3 жыл бұрын
Weber has a serial lookup tool and a location guide to find your serial number.
@lindawalmer26536 жыл бұрын
what degreaser do you recommend using to clean the grill?
@GrillTopExperience6 жыл бұрын
I used simple green, but 3 parts vinegar to 1 part dish soap would work too. That part is optional though. You can reduce the risk of fire by using the plastic scraper.
@annematthews31876 жыл бұрын
How do you remove and clean the ignition unit?
@GrillTopExperience6 жыл бұрын
Are you having trouble with the ignition unit? The only maintenance Weber recommends making sure the wires are connected and to replace the battery if you have one. The ignition is fairly well protected and shouldn't get dirty. You could try some fine grit sandpaper, but that would be a last try before I bought a new unit.

500 degrees how long? 15 mins?
@GrillTopExperience4 жыл бұрын
15 minutes should be enough to burn everything off. You'll notice that it will turn to carbon and brush off easily. That's when it is done.
