@boholilo77403 жыл бұрын
@@timmellis5038 windex is my favorite product. You can use it on almost any non-porous surface. The trick with stainless steel is to wash with windex then DRY with a lint free cloth. The dryer you wipe it the fewer the streaks. Keep several soft, lint free rags or towels with you to wipe and polish with you. Scouring pads go with almost any multi purpose cleaners in the bathroom (I prefer bleach sprays). Tile is 95% elbow grease, just remember to wipe dry. Hope this helps

Great video ladies! I also clean houses for a living. I use very similar products that Mel uses. I also do basic cleaning. I will do a deep clean if requested, but basically I do a general clean. I have been cleaning for 16 years. I worked in a factory for 31 years and my factory closed and moved to Mexico. So I took a entrepreneur class at our local Business College, and basically I learned how to use the computer and Microsoft office. (Which I needed in my business). I was 55 at the time. I am now 71 and I still clean. I have semi retired and slowed down some but I love it. I have great clients and have made many friends through the years. So if any of you ladies/ guys out there needs a job, house cleaning is a great business to get into. It's cheap to start, set your own hours and work as many days as you want. It's hard work, but satisfying. One more tip Don't Charge by the hour, charge by the job. I often talk at our local Social Services to young men and women on how to start a business on a shoestring. There are many businesses out there that can be started with little or no money. Hugs and Blessings to all!

the best bathroom cleaner that I have used on sinks, glass shower doors and bathtubs is in a spray bottle mix equal parts of Blue Dawn with equal parts of vinegar. Add water until the spray bottle is full. Spray on the surface, leave for a few minutes, then rinse off. For really tough stains scrub with a cloth or a shower puff. Rinse well. This combination spells quite strong of vinegar when you are using it so make sure to have a window open. You won't smell vinegar when it dries though. Great video and tips!

I wash my walls down twice a year with Murphy’s Oil Soap mixed with water. It doesn’t mar the paint and leaves the rooms looking clean and fresh. You paint less when you keep your walls clean. I highly Recommend water and vinegar on all wood flooring whether it’s real or laminate. Use a spray bottle and go over it with a floor steamer. The heat from the steamer gets into your hardwood floor cracks. You’d be amazed how clean your floors will look afterwards. My cleaning lady uses the same. I also prefer my cleaner to use my vacuum verses there’s due to dander from other people’s homes because I’m allergic to animals. Everyone is going to have their own opinion but my advice is to try it to see what you think. On tile Once & Done is a non-rinsable cleaner that tile companies highly recommend. Your feet will love you😊

I started doing professional cleaning a little over 10 years ago. I thought I knew what I was doing but I realize now that I knew nothing. I have learned a lot over the years through trial and error, recommendations of my clients and looking things up on the internet to see if they might work. I still pick up new tricks often. I charge a flat hourly rate with a 3 hour minimum on my jobs. I clean stainless steel in kitchens by pre-cleaning the surfaces with whatever multi-surface cleaner I have and then polish it with dusting spray on a rag. Go with the grain on the stainless steel. The dusting spray is not that great at removing food residue but it leaves a nice shine so that's why I do the two-step process. I have found that not all cleansers are the same. I used Comet and Ajax for years until I discovered Bar Keepers Friend. It comes in a powder or a liquid. I have used both and they are both good. The Bar Keepers Friend cleanser does magic things sometimes. It is good at removing calcium build up in bathrooms and black marks on porcelain kitchen sinks. I had a client with a white porcelain sink that I cleaned every two weeks for seven years. She had a few black marks from pans in the sink and I had tried everything to remove them. I used soft scrub and bleach cleaners and soaking with bleach. I used vinegar and baking soda and Comet as well as other spray cleaners. Nothing worked. Then we tried the Bar Keepers Friend powder cleanser. It removed them in one swipe. I couldn't believe it. Like you said, everybody's house is different. There are all different types of woods and even stainless steel differences. Some are easy to clean and some are not. Just because a product works at one house does not mean it will work on the next one. If one product does not work on the particular thing that you're trying to clean, try something else. Another surface I had a difficult time with was a white plastic handle on a refrigerator. It was nasty with grime from dirty hands. I have tried several different kinds of cleaners and then one day I was cleaning the floor with Armstrong floor cleaner and I decided to try a little bit on that handle and it cleaned it off. It only worked in that one circumstance though. I have tried it again since and it did not work. You do have to be careful when cleaning granite to be sure that what you're using is not too acidic. You should not use anything with lemon or vinegar. I have found that using isopropyl alcohol and water in a 50/50 mixture in a spray bottle alcohol is not only extremely inexpensive but leaves a clean, shiny, disinfected surface and is actually recommended for cleaning granite. I've heard good things about Fabuloso but have not tried it myself. I would like to find something that works on all types of floors, especially very shiny tile floors that are sometimes hard to leave streak free. I have found that the multi surface floor cleaner made by Armstrong works good on several different types of flooring. That is the one I use on difficult shiny floors. Sometimes you have to buff them with a clean dry dust mop. I have even done what I call the towel dance by putting towels underneath my feet and shimmy around the floor to shine it up . Only in extreme circumstances though . Like I said, each circumstances different. A couple of other recommendations I have on cleaners from experience are not using the cheapest dusting spray. I thought they were all the same. I believe it was Favor dusting spray that I had a difficult time getting shine on wood surfaces with. Now I use Endust or Pledge. My clients like the smell and I like the results of using a multi purpose cleaner like lemon Lysol or lemon 409. When I first started cleaning, I tried to cheap out and use car windshield washer fluid for cleaning windows. I do not suggest this on interior mirrors and windows. I do not suggest the cheapest window cleaner either. Something like Windex works well and I have also used the foaming window spray like you use. I have found that the foaming window spray is superior in cleaning most glass surfaces, especially exterior windows and car windows. it cuts through the grime and leaves a nice shine. I prefer inexpensive paper towels, but not necessarily the cheapest ones. Again trial and error. Some of the better quality paper towels leave dust behind when cleaning glass. the lower quality ones tend to fall apart. The blue shop paper towels work well and last long but they are expensive. Even the types of rags you use can make a difference in your cleaning experience. I like old terry cloth wash cloths. Or some microfiber towels. You just have to try them to see what you like best. You want something absorbent that leaves a nice streak-free shine. Another tip I have on the rags is when washing them, wash them separately in hot water with laundry detergent and bleach and no fabric softener. Do not use fabric softener sheets when drying them in the dryer. The fabric softener on rags tends to leave streaky surfaces. No matter what type of cleaning you're doing, it is usually best to work from top to bottom cleaning the higher surfaces first and ending with the floor. I also usually leave one toilet to clean last so that I have somewhere to dump my dirty mop water and can leave the toilet clean when I'm done.

I remember getting on my knees to scrub the floors, but you get the edges, and trim,sure glad they have all the neat mops, now,and sweepers. One tip that has helped me with running between rooms is to use an empty laundry basket (or a smaller bin if I am finding little lost items) at the door where I’m cleaning. When I find something that belongs in another room, I toss it in the basket. I just move the basket around the house with me and put things away as I get to that area. If I find lost items in the last areas that belong in the first areas I cleaned, it is one more lap through the house with the basket, my “cool-down” lap where I can go admire the finished work as the last few bits are put back in place. Other tips that work for different family sizes and houses: every family member has a labeled bin / box in a central location (laundry room, mud room, corner of kitchen) and lost things are returned to the bins for each person to return. When I have lived in houses with stairs, I kept a collecting bin at the top and bottom and every time I went up or down, I carried something with me to put away. Hope it helps. Now I need to work on my house! Blessings and health to all.

A tip from me to you; Use a little bit of dawn blue dishwashing detergent + small quantity of baking soda + white vinegar; Add in warm water even regular water does too; Mix it and spray it thoroughly on wherever hard soap scum is, especially on glass shower doors, Leave it for at least 15 minutes and then wipe it with two or three times with wet microfibre clothes and dry it. It is a fantastic cleaning recipe. You can strengthen it by adding more or less dawn liquid. Take care and keep smiling 🙂

My 7 year old son gets dirty hand prints all over walls! My favorite way to clean my painted walls (for that very issue) is to put either pinesol OR a tbs of powdered tide and a dash of bleach in the sink, dip an old washcloth or microfiber cloth in it, wring it out and wipe down. Which one I use depends on what I want to smell! I use satin finish latex paint on all of my walls.

I've always loved cleaning, and the periods in my life when I needed help from an outside company due to concentrating on other areas of my life, I did not like it because I always knew that I do a more thorough job. I wear gloves to protect my hands when doing "wet cleaning", and I have a different pair for bathrooms vs. kitchen. And I always do my bathrooms last since they have the most germs. Even in the bathrooms, I clean from cleanest areas (mirrors, counters) to dirtiest (toilets are always last).

Grout deep cleaning - gel toilet bowl cleaner with bleach and a deck brush (from Home Depot). Takes grout back to the original color. It will need to be rinsed with just water and a mop. In my experience any cleaner (other than vinegar & water) on tile floors leaves a sticky residue. To wash lambs wool, use shampoo & conditioner (it's just like your hair).

Hi Sharon, what do you use for the bathroom? And stainless steal? What do you do if they have tons of stuff on their shelves? Thanks.
@smpayne23 жыл бұрын
@@timmellis5038 I'm not an expert, by any means, just old. Personally, I use Simple Green on most everything (not tile, stainless or glass). I do find the gel toilet bowl cleaners work best for me. The stainless steel cleaners work nicely, but are expensive (NEVER spray directly on the appliance, spray the cloth), but vinegar and water is the next best thing.

Pretty late to the party, but I love these ladies! Thank you for sharing your tips! Magic erasers are amazing, usse them as a last resort as they're like very fine grit sandpaper. I've wiped the enamel off of my tub over the years :/ Satin or matte paint you use water, if at all, most times just touch up paint can help it. The more gloss the easier to clean!

Great video I love cleaning, I used Quick Shine that works pretty good. But first you must clean the floor, with hot water and vinegar mop it once dry. Sweep the floor, now you are ready for your floor to shine, do areas at a time, Do not walk on it for 9 hours so it's best to do it at night before bed. Use a micro fiber mop to put the quick and shine. I clean walls, my mom taught us that when we were little, put some hot water and vinegar on the wall to take the stain from the wall good luck and thanks !!!!

I love cleaning. I know, crazy 😂 I cleaned homes for 12 years in my mom's business before she closed it and started another one. I went to work the office job 9 to 5 for 5 years and I was miserable! sitting all day same place every.single.day! 😭😫 I was so feed up I decided I wanted to start my own business, I saved three months worth of my salary to survive, but within a month I was making almost what my ex employer paid me 😂 anyway, I love to help people's lives, the reaction they have when their homes are clean, they seem more calm and happier. That's what I love!! I also love the physicality of it all 😀👍 I agree with Mel that each client is different, for example I use 3 different wood polishes because different clients like different products and also they have different surfaces. And yes, all bathroom cleaners tell you in the label you need to let them sit for at least 10 minutes because they are desinfectants and you want to kill bacteria and viruses and that's how long it takes to kill them 😉
@timmellis50383 жыл бұрын
Hi Kanita, I'm just starting out (I'm a guy) what wood polishes do you use and what do you use in the bathroom and the glass doors? Thanks.

Lol so in my recent video she actually talks about how she doesn't read - so not sure she cleans bookcases either - altho I would say her little hand held duster would be the ticket!
@Marie-oy1bd4 жыл бұрын
Great ideas! I would was that fluffy wool duster with soap and water, fluff it out, and let it air dry in the sunshine. The sun kills bacteria in anything 100% wool. It won't even smell dirty. Wool. It's amazing!

👍Dust first, then kitchen & baths, then floors, great advice, great product advice. Thanks for posting. We have to use the disposable dusters cause we have dogs & the dirt they drag in would destroy that nice duster in one day, but it would be nice. Glass shower doors with water marks can be temporarily made to look nicer with oil. It can’t fix water etched marks but it helps loosen mineral deposits from hard water.

I use Orange Glo on stainless steel it works great. There is a special micro fiber glove I apply it with and buff it out. Soap scum on tile and glass doors ; Dawn dish soap works GREAT. I was taught NOT to use glass cleaners on granite counter tops. I retired after 20 yrs of cleaning both residential and commerical. Those are a couple of my favorite cleaners. 😀

My housekeeper taught me that Dawn dishsoap on the shower glass works beautifully. Put a bit on a microfiber cloth that is already wet and wash the shower down. I have a carrera marble mosaic shower floor and white subway tiles with frameless glass doors and harsh cleaners can damage the soft stone. Finish with a squeegee after rinsing and you'll have clean and clear glass.

I also used to clean a few homes on the side to make extra money, while working at my regular jobs. I used to do all the dusting at one time, thinking that would give the dust time to settle before I came back to sweep or vacuum. Unfortunately, now I have low back issues, and I can't stand to do all of the vacuuming and mopping at one time. Thank you for making this video! There is some really great information in here that I can use in my own home.
