It is actually not for cleaning, but for testing if the fans are working correctly. The fan itself cant clean the console because the only thing it can do is to push the dust out of the wents. Rest of the insides (especially places near the CPU and GPU that matter the most) are still dirty and needs to be cleaned manually.

I had my fat PS3 yellow light of death, the common cause at that time was either nec capacitor or solder reball. I opted for the latter, and hit the heat sink with a heat gun for about 10 minutes, moving around quite a bit to not overheat or melt the case. To my surprise it worked and still does 7 years later.

This is just a fan test, not meant to be used outside the factory afaik. Just open up your ps3 to clean it. You can use the fan test in case of a YLOD to get the disk out as it runs before any startup checks.

This is a bad idea, what's happening here is this causes the CPU and GPU to overheat purposely hence causing the fans the spin at maximum rpm. This feature was only allowed in the event your console was overheating so you can compare your running fan speed vs maximum. In other words if it sound the same that means you need to get it fixed or serviced ASAP. Also this should be done only a few times cause it can cause damage to the components. This has nothing to do with cleaning out dust in your console.

I buy a playstation shirt for all my playstations and I do have 2 of these ps3's but they're in the original box and yes I did a blow out before repackaging. The ps5 is my current console so it has a shirt over it my ps1's, ps2's, ps3's, and ps4/ps4 pro are in the original boxes. I tore down the others and even put new thermal paste in them as I want to preserve them for my son to enjoy.

It might be that your on it to much that happened to me , it’s a warning that’s either something is about to happen to the ps4 or it already happened I recommen to avoid being on it to much and not put it on rest mode , also make sure that DON’T put dirty disk in side of it it will likely damage it but it can also just be hot

Changing the thermal paste on those is pretty easy btw, mine barely gets warm when playing (i mean i modded mine and run the fans a little faster than stock but the thermal paste change did most of the heavy lifting)

Blow your consoles out with an air compressor it makes an absolute world of difference. Had my 10+ year old ps3 slim original front loader model and just starting a game it would sound about as loud as a hair dryer, and a couple air holes had literal 2 inch thick dust covering. Blowing it out with the air compressor had it start sounding only as loud as a laptop or other small fan, I didnt even have to open it up and get the REALLY caked on dust im sure is in there

If it’s a CECHA or a CECHB PS3 it it highly recommended to just open it up and use compressed air or get a repair shop to professionally replace the thermal paste since they are absolute space heaters
