You should mention that the high pressure fuel pump is considered by suzuki to be a "non serviceable" part. If anything inside is broken the only thing you can do is get a whole new pump.

Hi - thanks for your video. Helped me a lot ! My DF15 did not start but the Suzuki diagnosis SW did not show any error codes and the actuation of the hp fuel pump produced nice fuel flow at the injector rail. But: I could not remove the „sleeve“ inside the magnetic stator. It was rusted in and the rust squeezed it so that the magnetic rotor was grinding - obviously rpm controlled and at idle/start the pump stopped. Best would be to grind off the touch points and assemble it again. I broke off the neck at the sleeve and crashed the sleeve (without the bottom with the thrust bearing). Some glue to seal it. Not sure what the fuel does to the magnetic winding.

My 20 hp high pressure pump was totally seized up after three years of no use. The little pistons couldnt move at all and it took some pressure to remove them. After cleaning everything is runs beautiful again! Thanks for the well explained rebuild! Regards from the Netherlands

Thank you! You may want to expand your presentation by explaining how the high pressure pump works, the purpose of each of the fuel lines and exactly how and to what pressure that that electrical "pump" boosts the fuel pressure. Would there have been any way to bench test that fuel pump before and after the cleaning to determine whether the cleaning was effective? I expect the school to have access to the maintenance manual it would be nice to have you talk/show the manual in your work.

When rebuilding this pump you may need to replace the 2 o-rings. One is 32mm x 2.0mm between the cap and body, the other is 5.5mm x 1.5mm under that part with the little white tip. Use Buna-N 70 durometer rings. I got mine from Harfington's. This pump has gasoline and an electric motor. It is "ignition protected" since failure may allow gas into the motor chamber and consequent fire with potential explosion. Hence, Suzuki says it's non-serviceable. If you replace the O-ring make sure it is absolutely set correctly. I am not responsible for any damage or injury or death, that your rebuild might 0:26 .

Does the park with “the white tip that faces upwards” get pressed in… or does it just stir in there loose? Mine seems loose and I’m having a hard time getting everything back together flush. Seems like I need to force that part in… but don’t want to break it. Thx!

@@thecollegequarterdeck I drained the oil from the Suzuki DF15 after about 10 hours. I left it in the bottle and after a few days a white precipitate formed from the oil at the bottom, a lot of it. What could it be and what cause could it be? New engine, only 10 hours old I also see that at high speeds, white smoke comes out of this nozzle near the cooling water nozzle

I have a 2019 15 hp Suzuki. Running great yesterday for about 20 minutes and then just died and will not re-start. I watched your videos and then looked at my engine. Did they change the engine such that it lowers the injector and fuel pump bolts below the upper cowling level? Is there a way to get to the bolts?
@thecollegequarterdeck
@thecollegequarterdeck 9 ай бұрын
I am unsure since I have not worked with the 2019 model. The nice part about the 2016-2017 model was that the lower cowling comes off with ease to access those lower components if needed.
@BillWells-o3q
@BillWells-o3q 9 ай бұрын
@@thecollegequarterdeck I realized that after I posted the comment and was successful in removing the lower cowling and getting to the components. We removed the hose before the pump and we are getting gas to that point. So disassembled and cleaned the components in the pump. It is a manual start, so with one person holding the hose from the injector side of the pump in a bucket and the other pulling the started several times we are not getting flow. We tried checking voltage on all combinations of the plug and one of the combinations causes the meter to zero out(checking DC voltage). Would this indicate the pump is bad? Thanks in advance. We are in the Bahamas, so trying to find someone qualified and getting access to parts will be interesting! Bill Wells

I know this is an old video. I have a 2017 15 horse. Hasn’t had much use. It runs great until you open it up. At that point, it cuts out and the red engine light pops on and off. Is that what yours was doing to prompt you to clean the pump?
@thecollegequarterdeck
@thecollegequarterdeck Ай бұрын
Usually, we cleaned the pump when the outboard would stall out while trying to increase the RPM. For the red lights and what they mean, I recommend looking at the owner's manual for what they mean.

@keegan707
@keegan707 3 жыл бұрын
They are not difficult riddles to overcome. Keep your filters serviced and keep water out of your fuel. Winterize properly and you should be okay. They are good motors but put a loom on your cables so the steering rod doesn't chew up the main wiring loom plug.
@CUBICHI1985
@CUBICHI1985 3 жыл бұрын
@@keegan707 thanks for the insight Keegan, but if I'm being completely honest, I'm not certain I'm following you. What cable loom?
@keegan707
@keegan707 3 жыл бұрын
@@CUBICHI1985 oh goodness I completely missed your reply. The main wiring loom that leaves the motor and goes to the control box and gauges has a square connector on it. It is just the right length to get drug over the steering rod when you turn the motor. Over time it can break wires in the loom. The whole problem would have been solved if they had just run the plug inside the cowl rather than dangling around outside.

HELP... I took my df25a high pressure fuel pump totally apart. There is a metal coned shaped spring/spacer under the thick metal disc at the bottom of the pump. You did not take this out. I tried to take the thick metal disc out by gave up. I was then trying to clean the filter in the pump outlet. I sprayed carb cleaner in the outlet then sprayed compressed air in the outlet. That is when the remaining bottom contents in the bottom of the pump that was not removed , fell into my palm. There was a thick metal disc in the base of the pump and bellow it was a coil spring, an type of needle filter, and a short, wide cone shape spacer. Does this cone have its narrow end facing toward the plastic base of the pump or does it face up and press against the bottom of the metal disc? This metal disc also had an o-ring around it. The o-ring seems to have increased its inside diameter due to absorbing fuel. And is making it impossible to re-install

If you're having issues putting it back together, the safer bet is to buy a new high pressure fuel pump. It's been a while since Ive taken on apart and no longer have a Suzuki to take apart to provide more assistance. Im sorry because I am sure this is inconvenient but at least the part is replaceable :)
