2000 Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ78 TROOPY 4WD 1HD-FTE straight 6 Turbo Diesel 5-Speed Gearbox She needed motor oil changed. The blinking off the shelf syenthic motor oil all gone three locations. But I decided on bought 10 litres conventional motor oil. Need it in quick pinch. I thought it’ll be good idea to clean underneath the bonnet. Wash all crud deposits etc. Gasket seals shrink. Lost of 1 litres synthetic motor oil every 22.29Ks 3 months later. Finally bought synthetic motor oil and change. Gasket seals swollen to keep synthetic motor oil within all areas of power house block. Never clean underneath the bonnet again. Crud is an second barrier seal.

Great vid! I pressure wash my engine all the time, no bogging down. 80 series can swim!

I think I have a vaccum leak somewhere that's why it bogged down

What caused your car to bog and how did you fix it ? My LC is not holding idle after doing an engine bay wash . Covered fuse box, distributor , maf , I let it dry one day before connecting the battery .

Use mineral oil or Kerosene for good degreasing, Gunk works good as well, heat definitely helps so a nice hot engine bay helps loosen up the grime

I would have covered the fuse box. The belts would have been ok just because the cleaner would not be sitting for long. Don’t forget to do the underside......even if you have to run it through an automatic car wash. If the engine bay was that dirty I’m sure the underside is just as bad. Will make things much easier if/when you go to wrenching on the bottom.

I remember taking my car to a mechanic to get my 80’s front diff fixed and 2 days later i get a phone call saying that my engine had randomly started miss firing. I went straight down there and looked right into the engine bay started fault finding things myself and found that there was water in the distributor rotor and drops of water in certain places. I told the mechanic i knew what they had done and turns out the apprentice pressure washed the engine bay and when they came to start the car to test the new diff it mis fired. Got so angry i told them to order ignition coil, spark plugs, leads new dizzy rotor the lot and i replaced them all at home free of charge from the parts. Water and petrol engines don’t mix!! Especially high pressure gurneys 😂

try dawn dishwashing soap, it's a great emulsifier for grease/oil. on really heavy nasty stuff easy off oven cleaner can also work better than the gunk stuff you used. I had my engine out of my 4runner so I did a complete cleaning... was caked heavily in 20 years of oil... was nasty. before i.imgur.com/Pj3DpSg.jpg after i.imgur.com/rr0usYF.jpg easy off oven cleaner will etch/discolor aluminum but not a big deal for me. the best thing to do after your done washing and cleaning is to hit it with compressed air in all the places you can reach. Cheers, keep the vids coming :)
