Awesome video, clear and to the point. For anyone strugglinh with putting back the bolt and charging handle, I found that the trick is to use both hands to pull the handle back against the spring, then retain it with your index in a hook and your thumb pressing against the back of the receiver. Then put in the bolt, gently wiggle the handle while pressing down on the bolt, it should snap right in place

Never seen anyone assemble a bolt so smoothly. I can't do it and it's taken me 15-20 minutes before. I ended up by the Gunsmither Bolt Bar which made things so easy. However, this guy did it slightly faster than I can using the tool.

Very well done comprehensive video that shows the step by step process to take apart, clean and reassemble a Ruger 10/22. I found this video after taking my rifle apart and then ran into a bit of trouble putting the charging handle and carrier back together. Best no nonsense video I've seen so far!!! If you take care of your weapons then you shouldn't need all the solvents...the advanced cleaners available today make cleaning and maintenance a breeze. If you notice your accuracy is a bit off then you can take the bolt assembly out of the receiver and use a good bore cleaner and bore brush to clean out the buildup in the barrel groves, run some clean patches through it to remove the residue...run a clean, lightly oiled patch through it followed with dry patches until clean. If you keep on top of the maintenance you shouldn't have to do that often.

I have a 1022 from 2012. I hadn't cleaned the firing pin yet. It happens that it got stuck due to the accumulation of dirt crust. It only started working again after a lot of brushing with a brass brush. With the lock, it prevented the rear part of the cartridge from rising completely onto the bolt, locking the cartridge half out of the chamber. Periodic cleaning of the bolt, at least every 200 shots, seems like a good idea.

Very nice video overall, offering a lot of reassurance for a newbie to gun disassembly and cleaning. Two points I got hung up on: where the charging handle fits against (it’s barely visible for a second in the video, as to it not being flush against the rear. And why the bolt would not move forward after dropping it into place (it wasn’t quite flush and was protruding a teeny bit on one side. Beyond those two points which occupied about 20 minutes of time to play and re-play several times the video sections, it went very smoothly. Thank you.

If you look you will find about 20 cases of using a bore snake on a .33 rifle and you pull it all the way through so you don't bring the dirt it has picked up on the front end of the snake back into the bore. . Actually they are made to be pulled all the way through, even what looks like a handle.
@Chalz1085 жыл бұрын

@mopar216 жыл бұрын

@jmedi55896 жыл бұрын
I cleaned stubborn gunk out of a .25 cal pocket pistol that way. Didn’t do anything to the rifling and the bore was nice and shiny. So it depends. Maybe all the time isn’t ideal but in situations like that it wouldn’t hurt.
@aaaaa19575 жыл бұрын
Jmedi5 5 in this case it should go only the one way, the only time you don’t is when you can’t get it done the right way. You really don’t want to take a chance and Knick the crown of the barrel, you can degrade your accuracy without it showing.

You can get by with a simple cleaning kit. I prefer adding polymer picks, several brush sizes and options,a magnetic parts tray $2 from harbor freight and worth its weight in gold. Not only does it save lost parts, it can double as a retrieval tool. Lost that tiny spring in the carpet? Just use the magnet to “sweep” over the area and it’ll jump out of obscurity. If you have the option an air compressor or canned air is a wonderful addition to any cleaning station. There are places the air forces lube in and grime out. An ultrasonic cleaner is another invaluable addition. Sealing small parts and some cleaning solution in a freezer bag (or better using a vacuum sealer) then submerging it in the USC is the way to go. The silicon cloth end step is freaking amazing. Those are the tits

Just bought a ruger 10/22 LR. How often should I be cleaning it? I've owned it for a week but have already put 500+ rounds through the gun
@jacquesd57814 жыл бұрын
New owner here too, so take this with a grain of salt, but I've read/heard that these get dirty pretty quick. 500 rounds would usually be a little overdue for cleaning, as most probably clean them every couple hundred rounds, max. Some even less than that. But others don't worry about it as much if it shoots well and the accuracy is there. But again, I may be wrong, so don't quote me on that, lol. Cheers.

Could suggest a lubricant or do not use any ?
@eNosArmory9 жыл бұрын
WD-40 is not a lubricant, nor should it be used when a good lube is needed. Now WD has branched out and is starting to make some other lubes that are very good... but stay away from original WD-40. T-9 is what a lot of people think WD-40 is... a corrosion inhibitor AND good lubricant... its 3x the cost, but worth it. Silicon spray has its pros and cons, I suggest people do their research and decide if they want that cleaning and lubing protocol. Personally I used PTFE lubes like CLP, triflow, ballistol.... but about a year ago I switched to Pro Gold.
