Thank you for taking the time. I’m from NZ and I’ve just been asked to help out on a 99 Freightliner that has the door latch broken and the door closed and it should be stated have never seen or driven one before. Your video gave me what I needed to get the door open and I can now get on with replacing the latch. I wanted you to know I appreciated your effort in filming and posting!

Found this while figuring out how to reconnect my door locks due to them having been disconnected when I bought the truck. Instead of lithium grease on the levers, try a wax lube for bicycle chains. You shake it up then just drip it onto the moving parts and allow to dry. The wetness will go away and you’ll be left with a thin wax coating that will lubricate and also wear off a little each time that the parts move which will shed the outer layer of the wax and whatever dirt has accumulated on top. Basically it’s self cleaning. The spray grease can attract and hold dirt over time and create more of a mess. Edit: I just realized your last name. My grandpa had the last name of Robertson.

I had thee honor of Driving a 1982 Kenworth Cabover as a Loaner truck while mine was I'm the shop for a PM ..Ran that Ole Girl from Tampa Fl to Chesapeake Bay Maryland. ..Old Spring ride truck solid mount cab ..Every bump I hit on the rode the truck jumped out of gear and the drivers door would fly open ...Once in a while the passenger door would fly open and I would have to sway left and yank it right again to get that door to swing shut way over on the other side of the truck ...It also had a leaky bellow on the air seat .So everytime I had to jam it back in gear I would have to slam the drivers door shut and reach down and push the button on the seat to go back up ...Fun old memories from my driving years .To top it off it was back in 1992 when that Bad heatwave hit the east coast .It was like 102 degree outside before noon and the truck had no air conditioning. Just two metal fans on top of the windshield that's whole job was to blow hot air around the cab ..Ha Ha ya Good Old memories

No one can blame that on it being a Freightshaker, they all do it. BTW it's a shredder not a chipper, it finally arrived:)

It's still a big machine, I'm not sure I know the difference, I know chippers for tree service. Yeah, driver door locks are bad about that on everything, I might repost that under a different title for cars too.

It's big for sure, takes up 2 bays in the shop, this thing shreds metal for recycling.

Several weeks ago you said you would be making a video about adjusting door alignment on a customer or friends truck. I haven't been able to find it. Did i miss it? Love your content, keep up the great work!!!

I remember saying that on a different job, as it turned out I couldn't do a good job on that door hinge without spending a lot of time so I didn't upload a video. The same truck is here now for some other work and the door is still a problem for me but the owner isn't concerned with it. If he wants to get it fixed good some day, I'll be sure to do a video. Thanks for asking.

Hi Gordon, my door striker nut the one in the truck body not the door fill off , so there is nothing to screw the door striker in , I don’t know what to do. I’m using a tie down ratchet to hold the door in place. Can you help me figure out what to do? Thank the Gordon
@57bagre

The nut is supposed to be loose in there so it can be adjusted but should not fall where you cannot reach it. If you can't retrieve it with a small magnet then you'll need to open the liner on the wall and find it that way.
