ah, the good ol’ genesis. me and my brother got one of these gen 1s as a “combined” christmas gift one year. we didn’t get a snes until a little later, but our buddy had one so it we still got to play it. nice job bringing these “artifacts” back to their original glory!

Yeah I was definitely a snes boy but I did get a genesis for Christmas one year but it was gen 2. I am glad you enjoy my videos as I’m enjoying making them. Not sure what my next project will be.

@@fixedonretro3882 FixedOnRetro, You really cleaned up that Sega Genesis.. My brother Marc has a Sega Genesis and it's actually the second one he's owned... The first one he had, I ended up breaking it when I was about 5 years old because I was angry about Ms.pac-Man and I took the Sega and slammed it down onto the hard wood floor and it broke into pieces.. Marc was not happy that day.. He would have been about 8 years old at the time.. Years later in 2005, he bought a brand new Sega Genesis with a copy of Primal Rage (Cartridge Only) Hey with playing Primal Rage on Sega Genesis, was there a way to pause the game, I noticed every time during game play when you'd press the start button, the game still continues playing like it's continuous, on other games, the start button is your pause button.. He loves anything that has to do with dinosaurs and he's a huge fan of Jurassic Park.. I can't believe you found a dead bug in your Sega Genesis.. How long had you had that one? What year did you get it? Speaking of my brother Marc, check him out in my video Marc gets a lump of Coal for Christmas 2011.. Also with the Sega Genesis, was there ever a way to save game progress on Sega Genesis games? I know in Sonic The Hedgehog 3 you could save it, but we never had Sonic 3 or any sequels.. For Christmas this year I gave Marc a copy of Monopoly and Wheel Of Fortune on Sega Genesis.. For Christmas of 2015, I got him Dinosaurs For Hire, Aladdin and Jungle Book on Sega as well as Dinosaurs For Hire the comic book by Malibu Comics

The game had to have had a battery in it to save game progress. This particular Sega was not mine it was donated to me to restore.

@@fixedonretro3882 so not all games had a battery inside the cartridge.. How would you beat your game if you couldn't save progress? The games Marc has on Sega are: Sonic The Hedgehog, Jurassic Park, Ms.Pac-Man, The Lion King, Primal Rage and most recently in 2015, I picked up Aladdin, The Jungle Book, Dinosaurs For Hire and then even Monopoly and Wheel Of Fortune

Love the love you gave it. I’d have scrubbed the pins with isopropyl first before inserting ANY game into it. Test first. (Make sure it works) Clean second. Third play. Peace!-)

Thanks for the video. My Genesis plays some games but not others. I’ll try to follow along and clean it. If you do not already have one, can you do a video on cleaning the controllers?
@fixedonretro38828 ай бұрын
I didn't have any plans on it, I've actually been busy and unable to make any videos. However I will consider it.

Plenty of other videos on cleaning the controllers.it’s very simple to do btw.

What’s the best isopropyl alcohol to clean boards with?
@fixedonretro38822 ай бұрын
The higher the percentage the quicker it dries.

Okay so ours doesnt show anything when you turn it on. The whole console should be taken apart and cleaned? Any other tips?
@fixedonretro3882 Жыл бұрын
I would first clean everything and if that doesn’t fix it then there are several things it could be. Could be bad solder joints, broken traces, bad video port etc….

That static might be from the power adapter in some cases.

This is true but in my case it wasn't

Great video! The model 1 Genesis is such a tank, I have never needed to do anything other than a thorough cleaning on even the worst looking consoles. The model 2 on the other hand... I think every single one I've ever come across has needed the DIN reflowed at the very least. Thanks, that was fun!
@fixedonretro3882 Жыл бұрын
First of all thank you so much for the comment! Second you are absolutely right some consoles are very easy to deal with while others are just nightmares. You mentioned the model 1 is usually just cleaning likewise can be said with the original nes majority of the time it’s just the 72 pin connector needing to be cleaned or replaced.
@retroprojections Жыл бұрын
@@fixedonretro3882 I have noticed that! I've had to refer several 72 pin connectors, but that is almost always the culprit with the NES!

So…..what are we shooting for here folks? Some type of bizarre pseudo ASMR video? Because I mean this is sensual, almost bordering on sexuality if you know what I mean, I’m surprised you weren’t whispering through the whole thing. 😂
