The sterilizer that came from the cf services pharmacy only runs for 3 minutes. That includes warm up time. The parts inside are not even warm, just moist. I think this is not enough time but I am looking for answers. Shouldn't the sterilizer run for at least 8 minutes?

Was taught to never use any detergents. Just put the parts in a mix of water and 12% vinegar for an hour or more and rinse with boiling water from the kettle. Not tap water as it can contain some bacteria.

I use distilled water instead of tap, to avoid mineral build up in the NUK. Also, avoid using hand sanitizer in this scenario. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, as hand sanitizer has not been proven to kill MRSA effectively.

I have heard that alcohol based hand sanitizer is a more effective antibacterial than soap and water. Do you have any data to support that soap and water is more effective against MRSA than alcohol based hand sanitizer?

What about the piece that attaches to the handset? Has metal prongs on each side and the wire that attaches to the base unit. This gets sticky and needs cleaning, any particular way it should be cleaned??

I do Albuterol, hypertonic saline and Pulmozyme all in a row. Do I need to do anything between each medication?

I was told to do my hypertonic saline separately from my other medications. Check with your doctor.

Our water is very hard. When I boil neb-cups I have to add vinegar to prevent mineral build up. Would I need to add vinegar to the sterilizer for the same reason?

Where can get one of bowls she uses in the video in UK

It's a sterilizer for baby bottles. There are many brands around that are the same design.

OR you can just boil it and strain the water out of it and rinse it out and let it dry...

Hello fellow CF'rs. Why does this video say to not use a baby bottle microwave sterilizer? When I tried the steamer in this video I melted parts. It is big, bulky and a pain in the butt. I also thought tap water was a big no-no. Anyone have better cleaning and sterilizing steps for active families? So much mixed info out there.

This video is specific for the Altera or eFlow nebulizer which have metal in the nebulizers so they are not microwave compatible.
