I think things like treasure islands and time traveling are there to enhance the gameplay and make it more enjoyable so I think it makes sense to take advantage and use them that way :) and as a newer player I really enjoy the slower more relaxed gameplay as I see all of these content creators with amazing islands but don’t get to see how they actually got there! you’ve quickly become my favorite animal crossing creator and one of my comfort channels I look forward to seeing in my subscription and you inspire me to get out my switch and play when I’m in a slump. I struggle with pretty severe chronic pain and chronic illness issues so putting your videos on are a great distraction from all of that for me. Can’t wait to see where this series goes :)

I think - if I understood your brain pictures correctly^^ - that I very much like all the new ideas for the entrance/RS build and the special points of interest you want to include on the island. I'm very much looking forward to you bringing that all to life (or changing your mind about it again and going about it differently XD that is the beauty in designing islands in this game, you can always redo something if you don't like it anymore).

“Let’s Play” is calming and informative. Thank you for doing this. I was gifted ACNH for Christmas 2021 and I still struggle creatively as I’m still developing my first island. Your gameplay and commentary is very helpful. Not to mention that you are a creative that is inspiring.❤

Absolutely however you want to run this series I’ll be here to watch it! I do like the slow game play because it helps when I’m having anxiety problems and there’s plenty of other islands of yours I’ve watched builds on, but whatever keeps you motivated is what you should do. Enjoy it, that’s important

Speaking of zoning out-your Let's Plays are so soothing. When I've had a rough day/can't sleep, I'll put one on and just let it lull me into relaxation.

i think im finally able to put into some words why i like watching your videos and streams so much. your brain works similar to mine in the sense that you follow a specific pattern with your gameplay (how you cliff scape, how you clean, how you organize your house storage and pockets) and even though those patterns are different from the ones my brain follows, my brain is still like “hey! that brain uses methods! we use methods! twins!” its like looking in a mirror in a funhouse. our brains use patterns for organizing, but they’re just slightly different. it’s incredibly reassuring and comforting to see

I have watched all 40 of these Kalon videos over the last 6 days. I started watching because I've been trying to get back into making my island what I want it to be. Listening to you speak about your island is exactly how my brain has been dealing with it, but then I get so overwhelmed because I just don't feel like I really know what I want my island to look like. But I'm ready to start imagining again and play along with you because you're videos are incredibly relaxing. 🥰

I hear you talking about zoning out... and just had to laugh... cause that is me sometimes at work with "special" colleagues who always manage to annoy me... and I will talk to them, hang up the phone and then struggle to remember what we even talked about in the first place XD

I love how these videos are so chill, so thank you for doing it like that! I've been watching while I have my morning coffee, and it's just the way to start the day. Nothing heaps stimulating but enough to keep me entertained and to feel like there's someone with me in the mornings. Thank you!

I love when you upload videos- you’re my favorite ACNH content creator! I love these long form videos, I watch them while working on my own island! I’m excited for whatever you do to Kalon!! I agree with feeling like the community is dying out a bit which is frustrating for those of us who could only just afford to get a switch & the game. But I’ll keep watching your videos for as long as you make them ♥️

With the 2nd character.... I have 2 thoughts .. every cozy coastal town has an equally cozy bed and breakfast type place run by a grandmother type person .. or it could be this everything store/shop meaning a coffee place/diner, library, cute grocery type building that is seen in hallmark movies.. this one stop shop in a small town

"have you ever zones out and then zoned back in and have no idea what happened and you have to rewatch it?" Me hearing this for the second time after starting this video because I missed what lead up to it: noooo Also I can completely miss everything in a video (listening for company but hearing nothing cause my brain is elsewhere) but still not be lost in the next one, which is nice because I've definitely been unable to put my full attention towards a video. But I do still rewatch these with the intentions of listening because I love hearing the conversations you have (is it still a conversation if no one else is able to respond? Idk) this is probably my favorite series you have on your channel just because it's so chill and conversational (and wobbly). I'm glad it seems like you've kind of figured out the path you want to take with it.

how i want to use treasure islands/order bots for my newest island is use them for things i cannot be bothered getting (e.g. lots of wheat fields or an item that the game absolutely refuses to give me) and I'll get other items i want naturally

I just bought a second switch and game because I needed another island. So now I have one in the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere. Just started my southern hemisphere today. New people are discovering and rediscovering ACNH, so stick with it, it will come back around.

I totally feel you when it comes to symmetry. I'm OCD and if something is not symmetrical I cannot tolerate it. I have taken down half my island before because of that.

had to watch this video over a couple of days because i've been so busy, but i'm finally at the end and i have some thoughts as to the next game! i think it would be really cool if they incorporated aspects of pocket camp into the base idea of new horizons. like how in pocket camp you could have multiple locations for villagers to visit, while still keeping the mechanics of the game (plus a bit of bulking updates here and there). like imagine this game with the amount of attention pocket camp got in regards to updates and content? idk if i'm really making sense, but i just got excited when you started talking about the hypothetical next game, and wanted to add my two cents

Thanks! The center of my original island stutters so much, I'm thinking of flattening it because I don't like to play on it. (I couldn't stand the thought of losing my museum progress and all my recipes. So I bought a new Switch. 😂.) Will flattening it get rid of the lag?

not to be a fun sucker, but i don't think there's a bigger picture behind nintendo "abandoning" new horizons :D Nintendo never keeps games updated, sometimes they do dlc like for example with mario kart and also happy home paradise of course. it was a little treat for us to get new content for 2 years, but usually they release a game, maybe fix bugs, but all in all just move on them. obviously studios can change, but i think i can't really judge the economical and logistical consequences of that, so for my part, i just see this as something that i might love to see change, but i'm not entitled to actually expect let alone demand it. but, i'm definitely convinced there's gonna be a next title wether or not they're working on it already!

I totally understand that we are all disappointed that Nintendo hasn't updated the game in awhile, but I respectfully completely disagree with you about the idea of adding Sims-esque dlc packs that would have furniture sets. Over the years the Sims 4/EA have become notorious for the way they put together dlc packs, especially stuff packs and kits, and are viewed as a cash cow company that doesn't put much love into their project. With Animal Crossing, its always been a game about community and Nintendo's brand has always been about togetherness and passion in their work. Thats why players are so willing to wait for hyped titles to come out if its delayed. They trust Nintendo are doing everything they can to perfect it before launch. Also if you think of furniture kits for ACNH specifically, it would be taking away a core element of community game play. Assume one player has the diner series and another player has the vintage series, both of which furniture sets go well together. One player visits the other online, the one who doesn't own the opposite players series would not be able to see it bc they don't have that dlc or it would be there but there would be some sort of prompt asking if the player wants to purchase it when they interact with it. That would make visiting friend's islands feel much more transactional/ulterior motive rather than seeing each other. That would also mean that if players tried to trade items to help each other out like they currently do (just like your Meliora Melin helped Kalon Melin) would be extremely difficult to do. The players would have to coordinate and figure out which dlc's each person owns. Even the cheesier ways we get items like through Treasure Islands would no longer be possible if dlc's exist. Now take a different game like Stardew Valley for example, where Concerned Ape has been doing game-pack level updates to his game for free and kept the game price low at $15 and there are dedicated fans to this day that can never imagine another farming sim being able to live up to it. In fact, when Nintendo re-launched the Harvest Moon games from the gameboy/gamecube era as the Story of Seasons name, they used a lot of the streamlined mechanics that Concerned Ape innovated. I hope I explained my reasoning well and that it was good food for thought.

I am enjoying the process but it is a bit irritating to listen to you call out people for instant gratification and then go and use treasure islands because it takes to much effort. I think a balance is fine but the way you discuss it comes of a bit smug.
@sparksby
@sparksby Жыл бұрын
🤔🤔 hmm, smug hurts me a bit tbh… I’ve been playing the game for almost 3 years now and have done the entire slow gaming process and worked for everything before and now my main focus is to decorate my island and try and create content along the way. The best way for me to achieve that is to use treasure islands, so I get to keep my old islands as DAs but then still have those items I have worked for in the past 🤔 And I really meant it more towards video editing and the actual decorating part, not necessarily the gameplay… I mean I understand where you’re coming from, but for me this is the balance that you mentioned 🥺
@seanmaddex4104

@@sparksby I think it is more the way you are taking jabs at the community that feels irksome. I think it is the disconnect between the use of time travel and not wanting to spend time chopping wood, etc and the concept of instant gratification. I have no issue with TT or treasure islands but using these and then calling out other people for instant gratification seems hypocritical. Also I do not intend these words to be hurtful this is just a frustration I have had while you have discussed this specific issue. I have really enjoyed this as background noise while working on my own island.
@sparksby
@sparksby Жыл бұрын
@@seanmaddex4104 I was NEVER taking a jab at the community though? That's one thing I've said from the very start is that everyone needs to play the way they want and that judging that is not ok... I feel like you really misunderstood what I tried to communicate 🥺
@seanmaddex4104
@seanmaddex4104 Жыл бұрын
@@sparksby I think it is more the words and delivery still felt like a jab whether intended or not. I have not heard it communicated as much in more recent videos but I would just keep it in mind in future discussions if the topic comes up. I hope you are doing well and that this exchange can be viewed in a positive context.
