Cleaning Garbage Disposal? Does it Work?

The title is simple. If you have an odor in your garbage disposal try using this or a product similar to this. Let me know in the comment section if you have other alternative methods to this common problem.

One thing I noticed in this video that may assist in finding the cause of the smell. Is the 7/8" hose running from the air gap to the disposal. In working at a hardware store for some time. I find customers come in purchasing air gaps, hoses, etc. Just a thought when installing the hose from the air gap and disposal. Make certain that the hose doesn't droop below the fitting. Because if it does the food and water could drop back into the hose and stay causing the smell from food staying there.

I have used this, about every two months or so, and I like it. I haven't really had an odor problem, but just like to keep it clean and as fresh as I can.

Aww man, I bought this product, but it says not to run water directly into the disposal - and my faucet is fixed directly over the drain/disposal and can't be moved. How big of a difference might it make?

I used this product today, for the first time. I followed the instructions. however my garbage disposal still smells. So, i added another packet and no change. This did not work for me. I will go back to using lemon peels which seems to work best

I tried multiple times and followed the instructions but doesn't work ..the blue foam doesn't showup

Same here. First packet worked. None of the others' foam ever came above the drain, last one blue foam was barely visible at all.

The water trickle was probably a little too large, not hot enough, or too small. The water itself actually is very important for it foaming up more. If theres touch water the disposal will eat it up and itll go away

thank you i had lost the directions to the cleaner and i did not know about the hose and honestly do not know much about garbage disposals . i had always heard of the lemon peel and orange peel remedy but have not felt that it truly works really really well . this was very informative thank you for your help !!

A whole tray of ice cubes and dawn dish soap ! Run a small stream of hot water, add tray of ice and soap! I’m a plumber! Your welcome!
