For those that were bothered by the guacamole plate and upward leaning dishes: the jets aren’t meant to do much of the cleaning work. They are there to keep everything coated. The detergent is meant to do all the work, via chemicals and enzymes slowly breaking down the food. This is why they run for so long, 2hrs for a normal cycle, 4hrs for a ‘heavy’ cycle. And he put no prewash in for the first cycle, so it was just legit spraying water, very little initial cleaning. The second cycle loaded the detergent, starting the real cleaning. Also, for each cycle, the water is being recycled. It’s pumping “dirty” water constantly. But this saves water and again allows the detergent time to break everything down. The guac plate was heavily soiled and needed all the time it could get lol. Edit: those that are saying their wash cycle is as little as 30min, you’re undoubtedly using the “quick wash” setting, which runs effectively like the “prewash” I described in my original comment. If you’ve pre rinsed your dishes (in the sink), they’ll likely still come out clean. If you have guac plate level soiling, it likely won’t clean that completely - as we watched in the video. But on a was length in general - even a quick Google search gives a standard response: ‘a normal wash cycle usually takes between 1.5 and 4hrs.’

However you should not load your dishwasher to the brim... poorly distributed tablewear can lead to poor results... Even when loading your dishwasher you need to be consious that large pans or bowls may cover the sprinklers and not allow for water to reach other things... Sometimes even resulting in not taking the detergent in case you use capsules... Ive been an appliance tech for over 6 years now... ive seen alot of stuff...

Fun fact, if you plan on washing your dishes for more than 3 minutes, a dish washer is more efficent. It actually reuses most of the water (so a typical wash cycle only uses about 3-4 gallons of water. Meanwhile, hand washing will use 2+ gallons of water a minute. Most high efficiency washing machines also use pretty cool water since they use HE soaps and don't need to heat the water significantly. Overall, if you are planning on washing dishes for more than 3 minutes, a dishwasher will be more efficient for your wallet and the environment!
@_rpeezy_6419 Жыл бұрын
Disagree. You can use faucet regulators to change the sink from 2 GPM to 1.5 or even 1 GPM (some newer faucets are already at 1GPM with a button to press for a faster fill). You can also fill one side of the sink (1/2 or 3/4 the way up) with hot soapy water. Wash and then use the other side as a rinse basin. Just don't run the water while hand washing your dishes and it'll be more efficient as you aren't using electricity for the dishwasher pumps/motors and heating elements.
@MarqueeliusThe_III Жыл бұрын
We’ve been washing dishes for as long as I can remember. One day I just decided to put the dishes in the dishwasher because of how many ads I saw claiming it reduces water. So I gave it a try and at the end of the month the water bill had skyrocketed. I don’t think it saves but uses a crap ton more of water. They make you think it doesn’t because of money. Edit: grammar corrections.
@coolknight99 Жыл бұрын
@@_rpeezy_6419 Sure you can do that too! I'm all for reducing water usage and waste. That's a great suggestion. At the end of the day most modern sinks hold 6ish gallons, so half a sink is 3 gallons. You're gonna use a decent amount of water in the process, but using your method you would reduce electricity costs!

Saves water. Yes, because it's recycled. Saves energy, absolutely not. It actually heats the water over and over again and for hours, and as we all know, heating and cooling consume the most electricity in any appliance. And if you do heated drying, forget about it. The money and carbon emissions you save by using a dishwasher is negative. You're sacrificing a ton of energy for a little bit of water. It's less work and time invested too. An average program uses 0.4-0.8kwh energy and between 6-12 litres water. Mine at home does an entire load at 7 litres. "I can wash that faster than a dishwasher", very impressive, but can you wash a full dishwasher's worth of dishes in a reasonable amount of time using a reasonable amount of water, and while doing something you could be doing while the dishwasher would be washing those dishes?
@jorgemqz873 жыл бұрын
But this works for people that should wash too many dishes, but I'm sure that most people just wash a few and make that waste of resources (water, electricity), is for lazy people, and the time gained for that, really? just works for restaurants or hotel, but for somebody else? time to watch TV for sure... to much productive

@@jorgemqz87 dishwasher use an insanely small amount of water, especially the higher end ones. As little as 8-10 dishes can be more energy efficient than washing by hand, and they’re cleaner because the dishwasher can withstand extended temperatures to sanitize (you need 15 minutes of 150 degrees to sanitize a dish, human hands would be severely burned by then.
@fidesdefensor3 жыл бұрын
@@jorgemqz87 to give some hard numbers, a Hotpoint HDA2100, about the cheapest and most basic dishwasher available, uses 9.5 gallons of water total for its longest, heaviest setting. By comparison, that’s the same amount as filling one basin of a standard American kitchen sink (9 gallons per side). Even if you’re the type that doesn’t soak dishes in dishwater first, a standard kitchen sink flows 2 gallons per minute. So in just 5 minutes of faucet usage, you’ve already exceeded the total amount of water a dishwasher will use, even if it’s fully packed. And consider to actually sanitize (which a dishwasher will do just based on the temperatures involved and much stronger detergents containing lye or bleach) you will need to use more water to make a sanitizing solution of bleach or soak the dishes in extremely hot water. There’s just no way you can get the same level of cleanliness and sanitation by hand without using vastly more water.

@Islâmico da Silva Because a dishwasher isn’t a garbage can. The food doesn’t magically disappear, so dishes are meant to be rinsed (not washed) to remove leftover food, then the dishwasher cleans the dishes for you.

@@whengrapespop5728 Bloody hell thank you! I always tell people that a dishwasher does not have fingers that can get into small corners and scrub at your plates... You have to rinse the worst of the worst off first, then you load the dishes and the dish washer does the rest! My partner loads the dishes in just as they are, and then acts all surprised when they aren't clean at the end.

@@whengrapespop5728 you aren't supposed to pre-rinse them thoroughly actually...
@YamiHoOu2 жыл бұрын
@@whengrapespop5728 no you're not. You're supposed to scrape off the food then put directly in the dishwasher. Dishwashing powder (as in the stuff used for dishwashing machines specifically) have enzymes in them that attach to the food scraps and provide a better clean. Also modern dishwashers have sensors that can tell how dirty the dishes are and will act accordingly. As for pood particles, there's usually a catch at the bottom that collects scraps that you're supposed to empty... Then of course loading the dishwasher correctly so that the jets etc can angle the best way possible. If you're rinsing before, you are getting a worse job and wasting SO much water.

@@m0507 You sir have no understanding of how a dishwasher works and are in fact very wrong: Most dishwashers use LESS water than you do when you fill up your sink and rinse your cutlery and plates under running water! The water is re-cycled many times while it is circulating before eventually being flushed out. (We're talking something like a cup of water per plate that's washed in the dishwasher... good look beating that by hand!) I recommend reading up on current dishwasher standards, water usage etc as you can save a lot of water by NOT washing your stuff by hand.

My man casually bought a whole dishwasher for a 15-minute video. What a legend. After a pandemic, during a war and talk of the end of the world, watching a plate slowly get washed by someone else was sexy, relaxing and fascinating. I love my dishwasher so much, just because it steams everything and makes it feel so clean. Didn't realize how hot it was until the thermal bit. Excellent video
