Such a great video! I learned great cleaning habits from my Mom. However, I now live with a husband and two step-daughters who have not had the same "training." I struggle with this constantly. Lately, instead of getting frustrated with them, I'm trying to "teach by example." Say a prayer for me that this will work! :)

Great video Christopher. One more use for lint rollers ... Once a week I roll the window screens. The wind is always blowing on the mountain and our window screens get fuzzy. In the bedrooms, I run a roller over the them on the day I wash linens. The sheets catch any loose dust and off to the washer they go. The rest of the windows sills are easily wiped up with a paper towel. This doesn't replace the big window cleaning twice a year, but it works great for a weekly cleaning and helps with allergies too.

Mail “clutter” used to be my nemesis, because our office is on the second floor and I finally realized that the mail I brought through the front door didn’t make it upstairs to be shredded but sat on the kitchen counter until I got annoyed with it. I moved the shredder to the pantry/laundry room that is off the kitchen and just deal with it immediately now. Huge help! Our dogs have numerous baskets for their toys and I need to get better about picking them up every night. I know they are just going to take them to again tomorrow but I hate coming down to the “pile o’ plushies” every morning. Great video! :)

Totally agree with cleaning from the top down! I use vinegar sometimes to clean, especially drains (add 1/2 c. baking soda and 1 c. vinegar to the drain, then adding boiling water after 10 minutes which will help to reduce build up in your pipes). I'm going to give the lampshade lint rolling a try!

Great video. I do most of these tips and I also wash my glass light covers but always have done them by hand, let them air dry on a towel on the counter and dry them with a dish towel and then put them back up. OMGosh never thought about the dishwasher. Does he do a normal cycle, a crystal cycle (since its gentler) or an anti-bacterial cycle? Also, I use the vacuum for the lampshades, the brush attachment and go from top to bottom, in columns as I turn the shade or the lamp depending. They do get super dusty, I agree. I don't know about all the dryer sheets though, too many for the landfills. I use old tees and dampen them and then dust them and throw them in the dishwasher with my "rags" load. But at least you have more people noticing places like these now, ha!

SO so so true Christopher - everything needs a place. I consider some parts of our house pretty good BUT hoarder husband and children throw a spanner in the works. Would you believe I have resorted to now closing his study door so I don't see the mess inside? Out of sight, out of mind. But the thought of what lurks behind that closed door - drives me batty :) I do struggle with the pantry though. I get it in order with baskets and containers, and within a day it's like a tornado went through. We have 4 people in our house and they ALL have different diets. I need a whole storage facility to accommodate.!! It would be fantastic if you give us a glimpse into your pantry - although I think you have done a quick pantry organisation video. Any other ideas will be gratefully received :) Dryer sheets are not so big here in Australia, but I am now heading to the local US supermarket and hunting some down - grandma's are always right! :) Can I also borrow Steven to come down and clean all my light fixtures? This tiresome chore takes me days - great idea Steven! Trying the lint roller on the drapes too!!! I vacuum these darn things every fortnight - not easy with a cumbersome vacuum. I am sure the lint roller is far easier to manage. These ideas are a godsend. Thank you Christopher!! :) Now, given that both you and Steven are neat, have you had success in training Bubbas to pick up after himself? (hehe) Mind you I haven't had any success with training my own kids! I am outnumbered in our house. 1 "OCD" against 3 "couldn't care less" - and the cat??? ( I think she's tidier than the other 3 humans) I totally get how you think cleaning videos are sooooooo boooooooring. I've nodded off watching a few myself (ha ha). BUT! I somehow think that it's nice to see the little things that someone does, (that they aren't aware of), that can create an AHA moment for someone else. Just try one Christopher and see how you go. Everyone here loves your presence so we will enjoy! Oh! And noticed the amazing cactus by your sink - how's he doing?? Looks like he's found the perfect spot near a little bit of moisture and lots of light... This was such a nice mid week surprise. I am now off to clean and mop the floors and stop rambling...... Helen :)

I am actually working on a pantry video! The dishwasher trick for light fixtures is such a life saver!!! It is the only way I clean them now. Bubbas is a pretty neat dog. Great tips & ideas! I don't know what a dryer sheet as we don't have them in my country, but from your description I'm guessing something like a baby wipe(?) which I find fabulous for cleaning things from floor to bathroom as it attracts all the dog hair & dust .. Great tips! My tip is to use 1/4 cup white vinegar 1/4 cup isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and 2 cups water in a spray bottle, to clean mirrors and counters for a streak less shine! 💖 your vids!
