Change the orings on those fuel line hoses that connect the carbs together. They dry out and leak fuel onto the motor. Nice vid! I just Vapor blasted and restored two of these carbs for 1985 and 1986 xl250r

Good video! Cleaning my carb this week on LA165 and doing rebuild too. I asked a question last week about my mower losing power especially when warmed up... I am starting to think it is a fuel related issue, hence why I am starting with carb clean... However, the oil filter has barely any gas in it even while engine is running, so I am thinking possibly that would mean the fuel pump isn't pumping enough fuel? Or maybe a vacuum line from the fuel pump? Any idea here?

You won’t see much fuel in the filter when running. Just undo the fuel line going to the carb at the pump. Start the engine & see if the fuel is pumping out of it. Also check the fuel pulse line for any cracks in it. (That’s the line from the valve cover to the pump).

Right off the top of your head, what size are the openings of carb towards airbox? 50mm maybe?

Is the pilot jet suppose to be open all the way through or does it have to be closed? Coz ive got a 1985 model and its bog when u open it up it all the way, quickly. I've checked all the mains and checked the air screw and it still bogs

Does it bog 1/2 throttle?

@@hermanferreiravlogs4330 Pilot jet controls the idle. The three-quarter to full throttle is controlled by your main jet. You might need to increase the size of the main jet on the right side carburetor. (The Needle jet rod controls 1/4 to 1/2 throttle)
