Cleaning out clogged sewer line (DIY instructions in High Quality)

In this video we explain how to clean out a clogged sewer drain line.
Fur this purpose we rent a sewer drain cleaner from the local hardware store.
These machines come in different sizes. We were using the biggest one available, which comes with a 100ft long cable and different cleaning tools. These are: starting drill, grease tool, root cutter tool, retrieval tool.
Before starting, make sure to wear some old. close. Also make sure not to open up the sewer clean-out until the water level has decreased so that the water. does not come spilling out.
The sewer cleaner. is very simple to use. It has a single switch. to select 'forward' or 'reverse' direction. Then there is a foot pedal to actually start the motor.
As the first tool reuse starting drill, which will allow us to create a small hole through blockage, allowing the water to drain. Afterwards we can. switch the. tool to the grease cutter, root. cutter or. retrieval tool in order to widen the opening.
When running the line into the sewer, always observe the cable. In case it gets stuck on an obstacle, make sure to stop the motor and retract the cable by a few feet. Then start going forward again, just a little slower in order to help cutting through the blockage.

My sewer drain clean out feeds in sideways as opposed to your vertical feeding one. Can I still use this machine or will I not be able to get it through the bend?

Reverse Motor direction only when pulling the cable off an obstruction. Trying to push the cable down the pipe or pull it out of a pipe while in reverse operation can unravel and break the cable.

Hi, if I remember right, the three hour rental was around $70. I picked the machine up an hour before the store closed, so I was actually able to use it over night for the three hour rental period.

Do you think Draino or Septic enzymes could help temporarily until I can the rental equipment?

When the blockage is deep down the line then I doubt those will have an effect, because the chemicals won’t be able to reach.

In regards to the bit you called a grease cutter, I asked the guy for a root cutter and he gave me what you are calling a grease cutter. So it doesn't work on roots?

Hi, I was using the names as they were mentioned in the machines instructions manual. I could the that bit being able to cut through smaller roots easily. But as soon as it hits a bigger root, I’d imagine the but will get stuck. The other bit (the actual root cutter) would be better for that application, since it has the saw teeth at the front and should not get stuck as easily.
