In this episode of Iron City Garage Bill gets to work on the 1951 1952 Ford F1. As you can see from the video the engine is in the back so that engine will come with the truck for whoever buys it. The inside of his truck was definitely a project for Bill super dirty stinky and just overall not what you want in your truck. However that’s what we do it Iron City Garage getting these bad boys cleaned up for resale!

Love this truck.I bought 1000 classic cars and trucks. I love when they are like this. If you want a perfect old restored truck start wit this one.

Ha ha. That looks like my 1951 Ford F1 truck. When I brought it home, it was running though

Back er in blind side . Keep that driver !
@billywird

He actually did not do a bad job backing in on the blind side. Now the mark of a good operator is when a fellow does that with a sleeper style cab where all you have is your mirrors, and at night. It's a little easier when you have a day cab set-up or in this case a pickup where you have a view through the windows and during the day. I do see a fair amount of people pulling these trailers with a pick-up (of course we are talking about 3/4 ton and up to 1-ton units). For the places they have to go to it is the best set-up and as a person who has been in this business for pushing forty years every place has a certain combination when it comes to backing in a load, especially city peddle.

seems about right with shipping companies for sure!!!
@billywird
@billywird 7 ай бұрын
When you do business with a carrier which is the outfit that is contacted to make arraignments for shipment one must understand that these carriers' contract with P&D Contractors which is what the fellow who brought the loaded truck in most likely is. Now not to defend the driver that brought this load, but it is quite obvious that he is inexperienced. As time moves on if he stays in this business, he will gain the experience. When people start out into something they know nothing about there is indeed a learning curve. Transportation is a risky business and there is a lot to learn along with just driving the vehicle. Back in 86 I started with RPS as a P&D Contractor and to tell you the truth I did not know my ass from a hole in the ground. Learning how to route your delivery van and manage your time is a science and along with dealing with people it changes like the wind and can be quite aggravating. If this fellow takes in your suggestions and continues in bringing in loads it can be rewarding for both parties as there is actually a relationship formed between the ultimate customer which is Iron City Garage and the delivery driver. i have had situations with places that I have never been to some bad and most good. It is unfortunate that the bad situations are as a result of somebody at the point of pick-up or delivery that has an attitude towards delivery drivers and most of the time, they do not know their ass from a hole in the ground. Like all trades it is a process of learning and gaining experience and of course it takes time and dedication. I will say this though, the fellow who drove the load in had better upgrade his attire to a safer get up as he is going to feel the pain when a heavy piece of freight gets dropped on his flip flops.

hey Bill... You can drive out nature with a pitchfork But it always comes roaring back again ~Tom Waits song: ''Misery Is The River Of The World'' album: ''Blood Money'' (2002) ''Every old vehicle; like women-got their own brand of misery.'' But I do love 'Em all. ~Daily driver of '53 3100 5 window sb with a '54 truck 235 w/ '72 Pontiac Catalina rear end that still begs for a higher gear. A 2nd owner '68 Triumph Trophy Sports bought in '73 for a dollar a cc. which was totally rebuilt in 2012 w/12k mi. to date & driven when N. Tex. weather days permit & there's a plenty of 'em.

That's a big no no getting out of a skid steer with the boom up, I know of 2 people killed when the boom came down when they crawled out from a skid steer and the boom came down and killed them.

Bill needs to start sporting a respirator or at least a dust mask when cleaning out old rigs. Nasty mouse poop dust will do a number on your lungs. Love these old trucks. I have a 51 F1 and a 52 F3.
