Today I thought I'd show how I clean pots and pans. I used to make all kinds of cooking mistakes where I accidentally burned my pans but fortunately I know an easy way to clean them up!

Boiling with baking soda works amazingly well, but it leaves a fine salt-like crust all over the stove. Totally worth it. My roommate almost cried when I salvaged the little saucepan she got from her grandmother, she thought she was going to have to throw it out it was so burnt up. Now it's like new and she thinks I'm a magician. Thanks Jun!

It doesn't need to be a rolling boil that throws drops out. Even a simmering boil will work; it's the same temperature, it just vaporizes more slowly.

I literally looked up how to clean off burnt food from my pan last night. The instructions were similar to yours, but they said to add a few drops of dishwashing soap with the baking soda and water before heating up. Well. Let me tell you what happens when you heat up dishwashing soap. It foams up FAST! It spilled all over my stove top, in and under the burners, and on to the floor. Where were you yesterday?

baking soda is really usefull for about anything in your house hold. and if baking soda it self isn't enough add cleaning vinegar to it. you will get a reaction that will bubble the dirt away.

Thank you so much Jun. You helped me save my mother's favorite pot! She was cooking some barbecue hash and burned it very severely which is the first for her. Excellent idea! Thanks. When I scorch my pans after cooking rice or beans, after not watching the water level, I just soak them with apple cider vinegar & water for an hr. Then it usually comes off. I only scrub if it's badly scorched. Gratefully, it doesn't happen that often!

It's not really sandpaper as you know sandpaper, that would be too rough. It's called wet and dry sandpaper. you use water and the paper builds up a cutting paste. That's how you smoothen metal. Actually, he and his wife Rachel just moved to Fukouka a month or so ago which is more west Japan from where they used to live previously. They're probably still trying to get settled and more than likely Jun would have to reorganize his new kitchen to film newer stuff.
