Күн бұрын

Today we cleaned up the rhubarb as It was not growing well, we fed with calcified seaweed and dried blood. We showed the the beans and peas in the net tunnel dressed with used coffee grounds.
We showed how I feed and water the bottles on the tomato crop, using green futures tomato feed.
We planted some celery and more spring onions.

I know how you feel Kelly, I have reset Autumn king and used beer traps, organic pellets, and coffee grounds ready to go on once they are growing. Its been a awful year for slugs and snails due to the wet and warm weather. Regards Cliff.

Hi Cliff and lovely Diane Do hope your rhubarb picks up well you had such productive crowns , In the town were I live we used to have a corn stores which sold dried blood by the oz along with bone meal and such like , also peas and beans cabbage seed lettuce and so on real old school but wonderful, I remember my dad asking my mom to pick up a pinch as they called it of lettuce and she come back with enough for a fair few years 😂, simpler days then back in the sixtys , allotments were much more respected then you didn't have the damage or theft as we do now sadly.

Hi Bill And Val. the rhubarb is looking better already hopefully pick up over the next few weeks. The good old days sound wonderful but sadly now gone. Like your Dad I use to buy peas and beans by the quarter pint, brassicas off the market bare root out of a old fish box, they would wrap them in newspaper to take home. People in those days would rather help than take. Take care regards from us both.

I enjoyed this! I need to go out and harvest rhubarb after this. I would like to hear the NPK of whatever fertilizer you are using, if you know it😊. I think blood meal is 13-0-0 or so. Have you ever grown Egyptian walking onions? I have ordered some bulbils from a place in British Columbia, I’m extremely excited! I’m after big onions from the ground so I plan to trim off the scapes and replant the biggest onions from the base each fall like garlic. I will space them eight inches apart in all directions each fall. Apparently you can get good sized divided onions that way.

Thanks Klaus, the dried blood is 13-0-0, the calcified seaweed has high content of calcium, nitrogen, and phosphorus. Good luck with your onions I haven't seen any of those for years. Thanks for watching regards Cliff.
