Sometimes total loss occurs, it's nice to learn of that and explanation on patina and bronze disease, good video!

Sometimes it does! I don't think I've seen yet a video of anything other than beautiful ancient coins being cleaned, that's why I wanted to include that sometimes they are too far gone to be saved.

Wow those coins came out very nice. I have cleaned a few myself; but I mostly clean the very low quality one and I have to reapply patina using Jax patina solution. I like your microscope, I use a USB microscope myself, the one I use is the Plugable usb 200x digital microscope, love that thing, I use it all the time when I conserve my coins and make videos of my work. Great job and keep doing it, take care and be safe out there.

Thank you! I've thought about USB microscopes, I wonder if they are easier on the eyes, but never needed one bad enough to actually buy one. 😉

@@SculptyWorks They are really easy on the eyes, since you are looking at your computer monitor then the ocular eye pieces which can really tire out your eyes; mine costs about $38 dollars USD so its not a bad price to give it a try, and i you wan to seen a sample of the quality, I have videos of me conserving aka cleaning some copper coins, and I just do some basic picture adjustments, but it was the best purchase Ive made for my coin hobby/business at least for me. can bronze disease spread to other coins if they thouch eachother or if you pick one coin with bronze disease and then touch another?
@SculptyWorks Жыл бұрын
Yes it can. And I have heard that it can even spread to other bronze alloys if the pieces are kept in the same enclosed space even without touching eachother! That's some nasty stuff!
@vintageavenuerarecoins Жыл бұрын
@@SculptyWorks Its funny, bronze disease is one of the only non organic substance that acts like a breathing organism, it acts like a fungus and spreads like one too, I call it the copper cancer.

@SculptyWorks2 жыл бұрын
@@Susan_HunTer The coin I put in the sodium acetate came out a dark gray color because it is a very low grade silver alloy, it darkens very quickly. It's not a true patina, it's a toning of the silver.

Next time use distilled water! There’s several minerals in tap water which can exasperate chemical reactions that the coin is going through.

La mejor solución es meterla en aceite de oliva por varias semanas o meses y les aseguro que después con un paño suave y sin restregar sale toda la tierra y no se daña la moneda

@@SculptyWorks You can buy it in an archeo shop or in dental stores, the price varies if you only have a needle or you can have a led light and the third version is a needle + led light + water supply or about a liter of water reservoir that flows on the object.
