What is the abrasive media ? I need to get this , so sick of spending hours each time on baffles
@BlacktopTactical Жыл бұрын
Regular corn cob media for reloading. It helps to stick them in the sink with dawn dish soap and a stainless brush first to get the big stuff off

Corn cob . He is also a reloader.

Have you tried this with a 22LR can? #curious and #hopeful

@@aarondbritt I don’t see why it wouldn’t work I Used to shoot 22lr through this one because well, NFA wait times lol

That's cool

Do you feel like this would eventually cause enough wear to create a loose fit between the baffles?
@BlacktopTactical5 ай бұрын
I don’t think so, it’s corn cob media so your not actually removing material rather just vibrating the carbon off
@j.shorter47165 ай бұрын
@@BlacktopTacticalI see, for some reason I though it was stainless steel media. How long did you tumble?
@BlacktopTactical5 ай бұрын
@@j.shorter4716 I usually go about 4 hours and check. Repeat as necessary

Do you use a stainless steel tube? Would stainless baffles inside an T6 aluminum tube work for 5.56?
@BlacktopTactical Жыл бұрын
My tube is stainless. However I don’t feel an aluminum tube would work well with that application due to heat. I would for sure go with stainless steel for a tube for durability. Stainless for the baffles will also strengthen its durability and ruggedness. The downfall with stainless steel is that it is heavy. My can is 21-22 ounces but it’s built like a tank and you would be hard pressed to hurt the tube. The baffles obviously are thinner but still very rugged. Take for example the AAC Jaeger 30 Can. It’s a great hunting can and is super lightweight with its titanium mount, aluminum tube and aluminum monocore baffle system. The aluminum is the downfall here. It can’t handle a high rate of fire. It can handle upto a 300 win mag but only a few shots before needing to cool down. For an application like 5.56, which is most commonly found in an AR platform, you want something that is full auto rated. Not that you’ll be firing full auto but that basically means it can take substantial heat. If you want to shoot all day at the range mag after mag having fun your gonna wanna avoid aluminum and definitely go for stainless. Hope that helps! I can’t give you legal advice but I will say it is important to Always remember to file your Form and have it returned to you as approved before acquiring materials or constructing an NFA item!

@@BlacktopTactical yeah for just a few rounds....on a hunting rid is what I thought...I need a place that has shortened stainless steel tubing threaded already... Most places sell aluminum tubes and end caps .... But would rather have it be a little heavy.... On a 14.5 I shouldn't need but like 4 baffles and a blast chamber?

Whats your setup for your paint applications (paint gun? Do you use an air tank? If so what kind and alcan you link it?
@BlacktopTactical Жыл бұрын
For like painting a gun? Just spray cans. I use the rustoleum camo paints, can be found at Walmart or auto parts stores

It’s a tumbler commonly used for cleaning brass shells for reloading. You can pick one up at your local gun store most likely or harbor freight
