interesting indeed. i think that all of those duplicate files, if left unchecked and given enough time will eventually cause some issues. and then if you won't take any action to solve the problem (you know how dull and boring it would be to remove duplicates manually) it will probably return later over and over again - just like a hiccup. a sama czkawka to jest kurwa w ogole jakas pojebana akcja i po co to w ogole istnieje xD

Rust can do anything C++ can, but its memory safe (huge plus for complex projects), and provides the same zero cost abstractions in modern, better ways. Also the macros in it are so much more powerful than C++. You can basically write a complex program that writes parts of your program inside a library, and this is heavily used.

This is a good find, I think I can use it myself. For images, GQView and its later fork, Geequie, can scan for duplicates and also has a built in copy/move sort buttons for moving images into different directories.

Thankyou for sharing this. I have been tasked with managing tens of thousands of unorganized images. This is exactly the kind of program I wanted. I installed a proprietary freeware version of this kind of program a few months ago. It was bloated, over complicated, unreliable, and locked me out of features unless I paid for the premium version. This one is significantly better in every respect.

I think beforehand I was using a Doops detector; some weird program written in Delphi that was OK but didn't really do a good job, and was GUI only; why can't more application support command line interface? - was doing some stupid thing with a Python library to launch the app and control the GUI via script but now I'll just start using this. :)

F Yeah! 85 Gigabytes saved because of duplicate images I had on a 1 TB SSD. My wife's doing. She would create new folders by Month and year, but left the original pictures in the original folder. Love Love Love!

I've tried it and there are pros and cons, if you are a normal user it probably won't remove anything that isn't needed and I've gained about 2gb, but if you are a programmer it will remove packages. Nothing damaging, but it will take a bit of your time restoring the ones you need Make sure to blacklist folders that contain .nuget in it

I also like CloneSpy, a similar open program which gives you manual control or automatic erasing. It only works on checksums or hashes though, so it's not as robust as Czkawka. Czkawka does basically everything CloneSpy does but better and with more features, but just fyi that there's a simple program that does dupe deletion too.

It was legitimately funny to hear you struggle with that Polish word :D But really no problem. Pronunciation goes something like this cz is quite short. Whole weight of the word is on the first "ka". Later it quiets down a bit. If you're curious then there should be some pronunciation video for that word

I've seen the author's original post a month back and the program looks like an excellent companion app to Everything by Voidtools on Windows and other stuff such as WinDirStat. Many times I find myself having to remove duplicate images. Sometimes when I wget thousands of product images off of an FTP or whatever there are random duplicates that I don't need, but they actually have different checksums for some reason, I've used other software that finds duplicate pictures visually, but the experience was clunky at best.
