Lol this is why I switched to Linux a month ago, had way too many problems, constant updates, frequent blue screen, frequent bit locker crap, and so much adware and stupid Microsoft Edge. Still learning but I am glad I made the switch, no more of this crap

Well just check your Uefi and make sure CSM Support is not disabled,let me explain when CSM is active your computer thinks that it doesnt have Swcure boot when in whole actuality it does because originaly secure boot legacy feature and one of the requrments for the new bitlocker to activate is enabled secure boot but computer does not register securebootas active witch doesnt seat erll eith the ne encryption.Btw i have qustion of my own does reset this pc resets regestry to default if we use Keep my files option?Because if the answer is no,then there is a second loophole in this? Set the PreventDeviceEncryption dword in regestry set to 1 and when use system reset use KeepMy files option. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJzckGmhiq-YmLs

Oh shit, what happens when an item was in exposition in a store and store was forced to use stores or employees personal Microsoft accounts in order to install the store's demo mode like IPOs. Is it saved in the first Microsoft account or does it save in any Microsoft account that is an admin on the device? Because win 11 on installation demands login or register to Microsoft account, some devices don't respect cmd /oobe/bypassrno Command.
@KrSuСағат бұрын
As for not respecting I mean: By the time device asks for WiFi access one can input the command and have it either bypass the WiFi and Microsoft account or force a restart and ask you for WiFi and sing in anyway, as of past 3 months store I work for had an issue where bypass would lead only to restart.

Highly unlikely. The recovery key will be saved to their Microsoft account. As long as you're online you'll be able to login.

I have to laugh at this. Not only is BitLocker completely going to ruin the user experience for many users, but the fact NTFS itself has so many data vulnerabilities and chances for data loss (looking at you Writeback Caching) makes this even worse than ever. Imagine you have the password for BitLocker, but then the tool gets corrupted in the OS due to a power loss... Oopsie! This is why we've begged Microsoft for several years now to transition Windows to the copy on write enabled ReFS and retire NTFS entirely.

Next they're going to say you're not allowed to use Windows unless you have a Microsoft account. I don't have one, I don't want one. I suppose Georges Battaille was right about the wasting of excess power.

Lennox is starting to look better and better. My daughter encrypted her sd card in her phone once. The phone got broken. Put the sd card in a new phone. Couldn't access the only baby photos she had of her kid. Lost them all. My motherboard died on my computer. I pulled the HD out and put it in my new computer and got all 40 gb of my ripped music and the family photos back. Nothing on my computer is worth anything to anybody but me. I don't want it encrypted.

even worse, some laptop manufacturers push out bios updates through windows updates, causing bitlocker to ask for a key. i had this happen to me because dell pushes bios updates through windows update and it automatically installed. immediately disabled bitlocker when it happened once

I mean it makes sense on Enterprise/pro installations but for home users it should not be default. It just makes it harder for those of us who have to recover data for our Boomer relatives.

If it's already installed, you can fix it even easier. One command decrypts the disk and turns off bitlocker. The after-the-fact command is as follows: manage-bde -off C:

Another MSFT fail. I use Windows 11 on a Macbook using Parallels, and my Macbook is already encrypted with FileVault. That includes the Virtual Machine PVM files. Hence, I don't need to use Bitlocker to encrypt what's already encrypted. By the way, don't assume boomers are ignorant about computers; I've been using computers since the 1970s starting with the HP 3000. Best to say non-tech types and i can tell you that covers all age ranges. I can't tell you how many people far younger than me are tech-illiterate beyond using Facetime, Snapchat, and TikTok.

Even worse is this being forced on a desktop computer that sits in your house. Yeah, I can admit it; if you break into my house, you can enter my desktop without a password. Then again, if you break into my house, I have bigger issues than data loss!
