Cleaning up the 1967 Beetle that you all picked!

You voted, we listened and completely agree. The 1967 Sunroof Beetle is the car that Sam will be driving in just a couple of months, or about 10 weeks! Can he do it, yeah, probably, but what problems will he encounter along the way? First up we'll get the car cleaned up, while discussing the couple of things we'll be thinking about, wheels, the wiring and trying to get all the parts together for the sunroof. We'll be giving you all the power to choose from a couple of options as this build goes along, first off being wheels as rolling this car around will be a lot easier on wheels and tires that hold air! So, what wheels will we be bolting on: Stock style chrome steel wheels Stock style polished aluminum wheels BRM aluminum wheels Chrome EMPI 5 Spoke wheels All these wheels are great options, we've got our favorite but it isn't up to us - you make the choice!

I like the 1915 long block idea. Either way I know you will make it great. I think the 5spoke Empi wheels always look good on a bug. Can’t wait to watch this build series. Thanks for all the great videos you do!

I am partial to the original product and being a very desirable 1967, I think it would bring top dollar as a restoration. Having said that, chrome Porsche wheels have always looked great. I am looking forward to watching no matter what tack you take.

For a ‘67, I would try and restore it as close to stock as you can get. If the engine is original, overhaul and rebuild. Try to keep and refurbish as many savable parts as you can or replace with close to stock parts. No restomods or hot rods on a ‘67 Beetle with a sunroof!

This one might just be a leave it as it is car, body wise anyway, the radio hole is hacked to heck and it's got the wrong hood. We'll see!

Depends on what you are going to do with the car after the Airhead Round Up. Your goal is to make it a safe daily driver. You going to keep it? You going to sell it? I personally like the patina look so a nice set of stock wheels work good for me and will keep expenses down. Looking forward to watching this rescue. I vote stock wheels!

I watched that one. It was a great series. All your videos are a great help. I've heard the rod length and B pistons come into play with the 76. Watching how that would get calculated would be awesome.

If not aluminum slots, the BRM wheel is period correct. I have a pair of '67 correct frt seats, but no back seat. Located in Queen Creek.

We're leaning towards the Vintage 190s, and so is the poll. BRMs have always been a favorite though! Keep hold of those seats for the right car, this ain't it! With the hacked dash and the wrong hood it's off to a bad start anyway!

Bro a sunroof 67?! I would go all original. 67s look sick stock cuz of all of the one year only parts. Slapping on rims that could go on any year doesn’t make sense. Keeping it original is a gunner challenge. Save the rims and just sand blast them and repaint.

Been there done that and this series isn’t about doing a full restoration. We have other cars that might get that treatment, but for this car we’re just going to get it driving and reliable. It’s much more relate-able for most people than a no budget, throw every part at it restoration.

Sorry I’m behind on the series and I know you already put new generic chrome wheels but what was wrong with stock ones? Is it because of the labor involved in restoring them? Aren’t those wheels rare?

The 1966-67 wheels are rare and some of these are pretty decent but a few we're hammered pretty hard. In the interest of time (and looks as the 66-67 caps essentially look like 68 and later flat caps) we threw on some aluminum style wheels and dome caps.
