Cleaning up the weird Decca 50 and getting it running!

Biggest video of mine so far - cleaning up and getting the recased Decca 50 back up and running. Not a tutorial - but an entertainment video showing what I have been doing over the last couple of weeks. It was a massive job to do and film so please give it a like if you enjoyed it!

I do like this one, probably because it is "not a real one" and yet somebody put a lot of love and effort into creating it and you have done a lovely job of restoring it in the spirit it was created 😁😁👍👍 Your home made RPM checker is brilliant too 😊😊

Thanks 😀 👍. Yes, despite really only buying it for parts, it has grown on me, and I will be using it inside the house as a 'daily player'. Glad you liked the RPM checker, too. Probably not worth building nowadays as RPM meters are so cheap. I have built a remote sensor for it so I can mount the display towards a camera and show a real-time RPM reading 😀

I probably should do a very much shorter version as the average watch time is quite low in respect to the length of the video. Hello again thankyou i enjoyed watching the feature film, i wonder if some father made the Gramophone for his daughter too play her childrens records maybe a Christmas or Birthday present probably about 50years ago. Thanks again. 😊😊😊

@Kevin-yi8fd Yes, possibly. I'm guessing the original case succumbed to damp or woodworm. The original soundbox must have gone missing at some point, too, though the replacement works well. I agree, though, that a date of about 50 years ago sounds right, and certainly not too recently, even the rebuilt parts show signs of age. The video did turn out rather longer than expected! 😅. I did think about trimming it down more, but in the end, I decided to see how a long video like this would perform 🤔. Thanks 😀 👍

I noticed where the horn fits there is a big hole which the sound can leak through, i would use caulk to seal it 😎
