This is the best Vent-A-Hood video on KZbin. Great job. I also appreciate you don't have music in the background. So unncessary.

Best video by far. Help me. You put the Allen wrench in the blower housing. Which way did you turn the wrench. Counterclockwise to loosen? My housing has so much grease I can’t get the blower off. I used WD-40. I just can’t.
@nimamotamedi4544Ай бұрын
Lefty loosely. We had trouble too and solved by changing wrench position. Turn Allen wrench to use the stubbier short side (completely in the blower housing. Turn counter clockwise (lefty) to loosen. Once you got it loosened even a little, do what he does in the video. Be careful it may give suddenly and leave u with a nice cut. We lost the supplied wrench. Used 1/8” to do the job.

My blower hasn’t been cleaned in years and is stuck to the motor… what’s the best way to release it? Update: WD40, 10 mins later it melted enough grease to pull off the wheel. Ventahood official manual also recommends WD40.

I don't have an allen wrench that came with the vent when we bought our house. What size of a wrench is it?

1/8” I recommend one with T handle for extra torque.

I've completely removed the set screw and neither of the blower wheels is coming off even after cleaning, spraying with WD40 and applying pressure with a long screwdriver. Something is holding the blower wheel to the motor shaft and it is NOT grease or crud. There must be some other release that I haven't found.

Outstanding video. Thank you. You helped me tremendously. I agree, I would never put the painted parts in the dishwasher. Instead I used a good grease cutting dish soap and warm water. For the stubborn areas I used a spray degreaser and warm water.
@pedrosmyth83665 жыл бұрын
Despite Vent-A-Hood's recommendation in the owners manual, I'm skeptical of repeatedly cleaning the blower housing in the dishwasher. However, most spray degreasers contain solvents which upon repeated use will also remove paint over time. Some coatings are highly resistant to cleaners like 409, Fantastic, Greased Lightning, etc, but the blower housing and wheel look to be painted with a typical industrial coating that will be affected by the cumulative use of these aggressive cleaners. Best to stay with dish soap and clean it more frequently not allowing the grease to build up.

I took it apart to clean. When I put the wheels back in and turn the fan on, one of the fan sucks air in but the other blows air out. Is this correct? I thought both sides supposed to suck air in. Did I do something wrong? Thanks.

Hi there, I unscrewed the screw that holds the blower wheel but the blower wheel does not come off. My VentaHood is about 20 years old, is it possible there is another screw somewhere that's holding it ? I'm afraid to force it too much. AND THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, VERY HELPFUL !
@CabinetFLIX4 жыл бұрын
Hello! If you haven't taken the blower wheel off in a while, there may be dried grease that is holding it on the shaft. If you are unable to remove it with a little bit of force, you may want to contact Vent-a-Hood support for further assistance. www.ventahood.com/index.php/support Thank you for your question and we're glad our video was able to help you get to this point in the process! Kathleen, you shouldn't have to. It is insulated from any current.

If you feel a current, you should have an electrician look at the wiring. It might not be grounded.

You forgot to mention that your head is up inside the hood and you are looking up…almost impossible to get to these parts.
@sacreddragon696 жыл бұрын
maybe its because your head is extra large? Try scaling down your neck region and squat your head and neck into a fetal position for better viewing. 😂 But seriously I haven't cleaned mine yet, waiting next week to give it a go, but the video made it plain and simple.
@pedrosmyth83665 жыл бұрын
It IS awkward to look up and inside a Vent-A-Hood range hood and remove the blower shield, housing, and blower wheels. especially if you are over five feet eight inches tall or so. The lower the range hood is mounted the more awkward it is. This video and others show the blower assembly mounted separately outside of the hood which, obviously, downplays the difficulty of cleaning this range hood. I know, I own one.

Any tips on how to pull the fan off if it's caked in grease? Alan wrench doesn't fit because of the design of the fan.
@CabinetFLIX6 жыл бұрын
Blaine, is it the same type of blower as this? Not sure why you are unable to access the screw with your Alan wrench. You may need to use something to break down the grease first. Be sure to disconnect power from the unit before spraying anything on it.

@@CabinetFLIX I have two suggestions. One buy a 1/8 torque allen wrench. It has a horizontal hand handle at one end and allows a lot more force to be placed to loosen the screw. You'll actually hear the screw 'pop" when it releases. I called vent a hood and they suggested that type wrench. The one they supply is worthless. Also mark with magic marker the exact position of the allen screw hole on the OUTSIDE of the screws position on the drum fan. That way it's easy to see where to place the wrench when placing it into the fan slot.
