@Mustlovebooks154 жыл бұрын
Oh, yeah, I definitely don’t use chemicals in my yard. Those pesticides cause cancer and all kinds of other issues. For weeds in sidewalks and other areas I use a mixture of vinegar/salt/dawn dish soap and put that in a sprayer. It kills weeds faster than store bought weed killer and doesn’t cause cancer. I wish I could pressure wash my driveway but the concrete needs some replacement and is breaking apart.

I agree with you, Brian. I have always been resistant to using chemicals. But I wanted to try another method to see if it would work. I'll definitely consider an earth-friendly option. The weeds are a whole other story. I have fought them like you wouldn't believe and I can never seem to get a handle on them. It's overwhelming. Spraying them worked. I have pulled so many weeds that it gives me back pain to do so.

@ThriftDiving4 жыл бұрын
You will LOVE it, Mary! The first time I tried to use a surface cleaner, I was doing it wrong, thinking it was like a brush that went back and forth quickly. But it's not--you simply drag it and it does all the work, with a wider surface area. But the pre-spraying did much of the work so it got cleaner!

save your self some money and buy regular bleach over the 30 sec Outdoor Cleaner and mix it 50/50 with water. Then apply with a pump up sprayer, then let it dwell for 10 min. The 30 sec outdoor cleaner has Sodium hypochlorite in it another words bleach. As always use caution and wear eye protection and hand protection when working with Sodium hyperchloride. If you want quick action buy the Walmart Pool Essentials which is 10 percent beach. Its about 4 bucks a gallon. A lot cheaper and more effective than the 30 sec Outdoor Cleaner. To be honest best way to clean a driveway is hire a PW company. They will pre treat with Sodium hypochlorite. Then use a high pressure surface cleaner and then rinse. Then they should apply a Sodium hypochlorite post treatment to really brighten the driveway when it dries out.

I'll have to look at the bottle, but it was something I picked up from Home Depot. Just saw your vid with Erin so Thrift Diving sounded interesting. So glad I did. We have used 30 seconds before on a fence, which was great, but doing the driveway with their spray bottle was ridiculously tiring. I have a sprayer like you do. But the real reason for the comment is that RYOBI "surface cleaner". It looks like a pressure washer. Our pressure washer is a pain to get out and set up and it's the old wand type. Takes forever. Hello.. I've watched many of your videos and when it comes to furniture paint, I've seen you use Beyond Paint & Reclaim Paint. Which one of the two is the one you recommend? Thank you.
@ThriftDiving4 жыл бұрын
Beyond Paint and Reclaim Paint is the same product. Several years ago they re-brandeded from Reclaim Paint into Beyond Paint. I do love that paint because it goes on easily with a roller and has a slight sheen to it. It also has a multi-surface sealer that can be applied over it to help protect the paint. I also have other brands I like, such as Fusion Minerals, which I recently bought about 4-5 colors to have on hand, because I like how thick and full-coverage it is, too. That one also has a bit of sheen to it. There are so many furniture paints on the market now that you can't go wrong with them. You have to try different ones to find the one you like best. But this blog post here can help you start with the pros and cons of some of the most popular: thriftdiving.com/whats-the-best-paint-for-furniture/

I had a sewer line replaced. They dug up my beautiful cement driveway and it’s been a filthy dirty mess ever since! Right now I’m working on epoxifying my counter tops. I’m going with Stonecoat Counter Tops from here on KZbin. How are your countertops?
@ThriftDiving4 жыл бұрын
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that! Did they actually fix the driveway or is that your responsibility? I know there are companies that offer sewer insurance in case this happens, but I don't now if it covers repairs beyond the sewer line. My countertops are.....heck, I forget! We got them 10 years ago when we moved in. I think it's Silestone! They've held up well--no issues at all. I have heard the Stonecoat works well!
@Everythingfreshandsassy4 жыл бұрын
Thrift Diving I thought homeowners insurance would pay for that but it doesn’t cover it at any time. I had to come out of pocket. 7k to replace the pipe. 4K for a horrible asphalt replacement of my before cement driveway (Feb. 2020). They didn’t have a recommendation for a company to replace my drive and they destroyed my river bed rocks 8 tons of stone had to removed and replaced (at their expense). They dug up and THREW AWAY 2 of my bushes from the river rock bed which they agreed to replace, too. They ripped through like drunken toddlers! No respect or care for my landscaping. Len the Plumber
@Everythingfreshandsassy4 жыл бұрын
Thrift Diving I found out about the sewer line insurance a few months after everything had been replaced! They would have done the sewer line and replaced the cement if I had their insurance! $14.00 a month! I believe in being over insured for everything! But this I didn’t know and it cost us!
@ThriftDiving4 жыл бұрын
@@Everythingfreshandsassy OMG, I am SO sorry to hear that! This is not an expense that any homeowner wants to get stuck with! I learned about this insurance a couple years ago and bought the exterior insurance, but did you know there is an interior plumbing insurance, too?? I am about to sign up for that, too (since I only have the exterior). I wish I would have warned you sooner! A friend of mine has cast iron pipes and his had broken and were a little off, which was leaking water into his yard. They quoted him $10,000. YIKES. I think he went with an easier temporary fix. It's so unfortunate that more Realtors don't encourage homeowners to get this insurance. It's so cheap, compared to the expense of getting it fixed yourself!
