Got geared up for some hiking and fishing Sunday morning. On the drive out I saw an old vintage looking Santa Claus blow mold standing out on a curb. Not something you see in early May so I figured I just scored a cool curbside freebie. I spun back around to pick it up. My fishing and hiking gear were taking up the back so I just buckled him into the front passenger seat. As I started to pull off, an older couple came shooting out the front door. The old man was waving and yelling while his wife had her phone out ready to record my "getaway". Apparently, they set Santa out there to spread a little cheer and give the neighbors a random chuckle. Fortunately, they were super nice about my mistake. Just glad they flagged me down before I pulled away. Would've hated getting chased down and potentially tased while I tried to explain to the responding officer that I didn't kidnap Santa.

Joan Whitley They use local florists though, right? They aren’t some alternate place that sends flowers. They take the order and then place it with a florist who is local to the person receiving the arrangement. I always thought that their arrangements were less nice because they kept some of the money they charged and the florist had less to work with. I try to look up a florist who is local when I am sending something out of town and let them help me choose the arrangement. It’s always nicer that way. I didn’t know they charged the florist to be in the network but I guess that makes sense. The internet makes it easier to locate a florist close to the person you are sending to so I hope that means fewer people will use them but folks are lazy.

I loved going to the local florist and looking in their cooler and seeing all of the arrangements. They had shelves filled with a variety of vases and could easily put together anything in a matter of a few minutes, but it was always quality and done with care. The smell inside was one I'll never forget and just the kindness of the family that owned the shop was something that made you go back, even if just for a small bouquet. Renee, I've been a florist for over 40 years. And you are absolutely right that your local florist will usually bend over backwards to please their customers. 1800flowers is notorious for asking for the world for 9.99. They don't collect money for tax and delivery costs. In fact most florists won't even accept orders from 1800flowers. If you want better service go on line and find a florist in the area you want to send it to. Call that florist in that area directly. Give as much notice as possible ( If it's a holiday or birthday, Anniversary give at least a week, especially if you are asking for certain flowers or colors. Illnesses, births and funerals you can't anticipate when they will happen, so go with color schemes such as masculine colors, or maybe, " Her favorite colors were pinks and purples, etc. The florist can tell you how much their arrangements start at and go up from there. They will also tell you how much delivery cost and tax is. When you allow a designer to be creative, and maybe a color scheme, and a decent amount of money you will be much much happier. But if you pick roses, and lilies, lilacs, etc especially during holiday time you will not be happy. Because what Can be made here in Maine for 50.00+delivery and tax. You absolutely will not get anything in N.Y. or L.A., etc. P.S. you will need a credit or debit card if you call directly

Paper and Moose the variety was Gros Michel- “Big Mike”. They were sweeter and were gooey in the center. The were much larger and thick skinned. Funny, but artificial banana flavoring comes closer to the real flavor. A fungus wiped them out by the middle to end of the 1960s. They were replaced by the Cavendish banana, but I think this has been altered since then.

I break down boxes and neighbors or marketplace people want them. Usually gone within a day.

Our Facebook marketplace is closed to posts due to the situation. I guess Craigslist would be an option.

What happened at 6:43 in the video on the bottom right? Looked like trailing light?

It was a nice video. Like anyone else's attic is probably. Not valuable stuff, just memories someone couldn't part with.

My ears perked up when you said ‘Church of the Nazarene’ I attend the local church here. Wish I were close to come to your flea market...or will you have those records on ebay? Love these videos.

Our flea markets are still closed, unfortunately. I'm hoping by mid-summer they will re-open!

That would be hard to clean out someone else's treasures, especially if you don't know if they still want it. Love the Santa
