Cleansing Tools for Every Witch: Alternatives to Using Smudge Wands

Hey baby loves! This was a highly requested video for peole who were interested in having alternatives to smudge wands. There are hundreds of different ways to cleanse and I just shared a couple of my faves here! In my last video I spoke about indigenous practices and how education is incredibly important when it comes to spiritual practices. This is something that I firmly believe in and wanted to speak on. I'm not in any way trying to make anyone feel badly or guilty, and I am fully aware that there is a difference between cultural appreciation and appropriation 🥰 Respect is key!

The rosemary steam sounds amazing! And nice and smoke free. I do something similar when making boiled ginger tea. I let the spicy ginger steam go all around the house! It's so refreshing and energizing too

I use a bundle (plant?? Idek) of rosemary binded with some wool I had lying around for smoke cleansing! Even outside the cultural appropriation issue in using white sage, I just like the smell of rosemary better XD. Other herbal alternatives I like include lemon (juice or burnt leaf up to you) and eucalyptus oil/leaf (because eucalyptus is indigenous to my country)

Thank you! I think that digging deep into my favorite subjects tends to help me. Also reading from different authors helps, because some books can be kind of dry to me, so I like to mix it up.

It's okay to have low vibration days and take a day or two to rest and let the knowledge marinate. We also just had a new moon and I was personally feeling really drained in the dark nights leading up to it.

Seriously, don't even worry about it! It took me YEARS to be more consistent, & that's alright in my book, bc I knew my heart & soul had found my true path, regardless. Pick small things that don't overwhelm or put your motivation off, & organically build from there. Life is like waves anyways; always flowing up & down. Perhaps just pick one thing to commit to doing everyday. e.g. Look out the window & thank the universe for your blessings every morning, stir love into your morning cuppa, speak to the birds, light a tealight/incense to say hi to Goddess/God, grow a herb, place crystals in the pot & speak to it each day as you water, purchase an Oracle deck that speaks to you & draw a daily card to meditate on, white-light yourself & loved ones each day (this helps with visualization), honor your temple with a loving shower & put rose quartz in your body butter or moisturizer for loving massages, sing to the garden, harvest some nature gifts to dry & charm at your altar, leaving some strands of your hair as offerings... honestly, all small ways & actions of communing brings us closer to our spirit, our spiritual connections & energy exchanges. We can naturally think these things aren't big or important enough, but that is so wrong. They truly are! Then, building up & down from these small places of home, keeps the qui flowing around & through us. Hope this helps, too. Blessings x

This is an awesome video! I'm not as witchy anymore but I feel like telling people who aren't being respectful of different faiths about alternatives is probably a lot more effective than my white-passing ass just saying Do Not Do. At the same time, thank you for the labor you put into this video and I'm sorry you felt you had to make it. I’m very new to spirituality and I went out and bought two sage sticks and palo santo not knowing the origins or even knowing that the palo santo tree is going extinct . YESSS I’m so glad you made this video! I wrote an article in Medium on appropriation in the self-help/spiritual world and it’s everywhere! Esp as an Indian person, of course smudging isn’t from our culture but yoga/astrology/breath work/many forms of meditation stem from our culture and seeing so many people profit from it without supporting or giving back to people in India is really unfortunate. i have always used bundles of pine when i run outta sage. you dont even really need to burn them if you arent into that i just enjoy the ritual. can place em under the bed, windows, in drawers, etc. pine cones work too! i would suggest using pine needles you find fallen on the ground rather than breaking off some as well. edit: the reason i originally started using pine was because i didnt want to take incorrectly or harm anything in my approach. just gather/collect and thank and be on my way. just thought id add this tid bit. charging acorns with neg energy to bury it is also one ive done, since you are disgarding that whilst also giving back. so glad i found your channel omg.

Rosewater and gifted florida water has been my life. A couple drops in fabric freshener or a dab on a napkin and wiping down the counters and blessing my kitchen space when I do kitchen craft. I love it!

I’ve been looking forward to this video :) I also want to add for those who do like using sage cleansing wands or smudge sticks (not sure if this is already said in the video yet!) but you can also learn about the process/tradition of smudging and create your own. Grow your own sage (it grows SO quickly), bless it, give it your energy etc. Dry it yourself, and tie it yourself. It’s so much cheaper and although it takes longer time, it becomes your own tool that was crafted with your own hands and energy and time 💖 this way you can respect the traditions and incorporate it appropriately into your craft, while not giving profit to manufacturers who are ripping off the sacred practices due to the high demand

Wonderful suggestions! The first thing I do when I wake up is pop my windows open and light some lavender incense to dispel any nighttime/dreamtime heaviness (when I don't sleep with them open). I use showering to mainly cleanse myself, I go in the shower and wash away stagnant, negative, unwanted energy, I turn in the shower counter clockwise however many times, and I mentally say to myself to wash away all the bad stuff and leave the good and balanced energies and I feel wonderful afterwards ❤️
