Next video, how to clean the hood vent. Like, how to clean all up in there, not just the filters and surfaces. Is there a way to clean the blades of the fan/motor??? 😜 This was a video - very thorough and AMAZING results!
@Jen_am9 күн бұрын
I just did this for my parents, it hadn’t been done in years! It was a pain! I basically had to deconstruct the vent (take bottom panels, filters, lightbulbs out, then disconnect the fan and motor) clean each part (used dawn purple degreaser, and dawn dish soap mixed with a steamer with a hard bristle attachment) then put back together! Depending on how dirty yours is the only thing I would recommend is using a degreaser if really dirty and taking pictures with your phone step-by-step as you take apart the hood so you can remember how it goes back together, also recommend laying some protection ( I used an old towel) over your stove top if it’s gas so nothing drips down and gets in the burners!!

@@Jen_am Wow! You're a good daughter! 😘It's only about a year and a half old, I clean the filter regularly but grease has collected and drips from the fan. Thank you for the tips, I'll give it a go and remember to take photos.
@eugenetswong9 күн бұрын
1) Everybody, there are hood vents with a self cleaning feature. You basically have a hole on the top, where you can fill it with water. You can fill it with some detergent, too. The collector under the fan can be removed and then you throw the water in the drain. 2) If you can remove any parts, then please consider rinsing it & the filter, in the dishwasher with no detergent. Frequent rinses will keep them clean enough; especially with warm water. 3) If you're good at making containers and contraptions, then consider making a custom collector from tip #2 to drain it directly in the sink, or a large convenient container. 4) As I proof read this, I think that I might to set up a table or something to hold up empty *LAUNDRY* detergent bottles. These bottles probably have residual amounts of detergent, which can help to lock in the grease to water, and the bottles have wide openings. An ideal container should be easy enough to put your hand in there to wash it out, if you want to. Also, a bottle is easier to carry to avoid spilling, as opposed to a flat container.

😂 that s actually my stove. I thought black would look cleaner than white. 😂😂😂 I was so wrong, I spend so much time chasing streaks. I purchased the Teflon type black plastic sheets. I did have to trim them a bit around the burner to fit properly. Game changer! I take them off, once a week, at night when doing the dishes. They wash off like a dream and I dry them with a microfibre cloth and put them back on after I give the stove a quick wipe down. ❤

I like to spray the grates with a degreaser as I take them off and set them in the sink. I add some to the stove top, too. Then I go around and wipe my counters for about 5 minutes. By then, the degreaser has loosened up a lot of the cooked on gunk, and it scrubs off easily. I use dish gloves because I don't like the soaps and degreaser on my hands. I think you should totally do it 1-2 times a month! It makes it easier to clean and it looks nicer.

Great video - it's a chore (for sure) to clean grates that are too large to fit in your kitchen sink. I've purchased a large rubber bath mat that I place in my bathtub when it's time to clean the grates (don't want to scratch the bottom of my tub!), but I like your idea of using a large rectangular plastic bin - this way it's up on the counter and doesn't strain my back while scrubbing them. Genius! Love all your cleaning tips.

I used to own that model. I like to clean while I'm cooking. Was easy with my coil stove. When I got my Kitchen aid gas stove, cleaning it after each use became difficult, because the grills are quite heavy. They are 2 large instead of 4 small separate ones. I bought the glass top instead, cleaning is easier, but cooking on it sucks. It also scratches very easily. Going back to coil top in stainless steel if they exist.

This is so helpful! I happen to have this same gas stove. How would you clean the knobs and surface digital glass window? Do you have a video on how to use the clean cycle for the oven? Thank you. Great video.
@Jen_am9 күн бұрын
Not sure about the digital glass window but using some degreaser/dish soap and a toothbrush could help clean the knobs then just wipe clean with a wet rag and dry! Also, it’s extremely harmful and dangerous to use the cleaning cycle on your oven! It gets very very hot and can damage, break, and even melt components of your stove and oven! Please look at your manual or look online your model, also you can google more about this information too!!!
@markbrownfield4378 күн бұрын
The knobs on my stove pull off easily for cleaning but yours may be different so don't force them. Clean displays and controls with a lightly dampened rag, don't soak the area with a cleaner that may run behind it and affect the electronics.

Our grates are cast iron, like a cast iron pan, so we've been taught that Dawn is never to be used for cast iron. I keep a scrubber that is saved just for the grates. One developed some rust when I did use Dawn but it ain't too bad.

@susannovak82639 күн бұрын
He addressed this in the video. If you don’t dry your cast-iron grates well enough, theywill develop rust. It wasn’t the Dawn dish soap.
@TiredMomma9 күн бұрын
Also the gloss paint that is applied to the metal of the cover of the stovetop, can be removed, well easier for a simple gas stove top but it sure is very heavy. A metal blade is not recommend but can be used when absolutely needed, very very carefully. Little knicks in the painted surface will be noticable over time as moisture can get under the paint, but by then you'll probably be replacing your appliance anyway, lol. I'm at the point of using a blade. Hubs recently made a yummy sauce, it spilled, burnt on like streaky charcoal. Not a scrubber nor even my fingernail can get bits off. Came off no problem though for the cast iron grates, so that was interesting. 🤷♀️
