He is a stunning guitarist. A textbook example of a supremely talented guy utterly uninterested in fame and its trappings.

I love him and his sense of humor! That and the Sub-eyes, at the end!

Love that very last gesture doing the Britney-fingers across his eyes!

"i started my list in 1066" Richard is so dismissive of trends he can reach back a whole millenium.

Even on a phone through a second rate bluetooth speaker he sounds amazing (as does his Lowden guitar)

Make sure you pick up 'Small Town Romance' his slightly obscure live album from the early 80's - literally lived on it for months on end.

He really is just a beautiful guy isn't he? Cheers for this.

Fantastical.... I missed this. He does all the ironic humorous nods and winks live.

The interview with Sophie was very good but could have done with being a lot longer. Richard is one of the great writers and guitarists who has developed his own inimitable style and I can't think of anyone who sounds remotely like him. Listen to him on the following BBC session, he's just amazing :- www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p016kb9m Regarding Britney, the only song of hers I remember is "Hit me baby one more time" or something like that. The song Richard did could have been one of his own if I hadn't been told otherwise. He made it totally his own.

i heard that rt's songs sound different because they aren't based on the 4/4 from american blues. interesting.

@oppie1945 AMEN! It is sometimes said that the word 'genius' is overused; genius, genius, ******* genius. There you go.

How extraordinary! RT suddenly turns 'Oops' into a quality song! Do you think the writers ever saw that much in it?
@trockfield774 жыл бұрын
It's already a quality song!
@honeychurchgipsy6 Жыл бұрын
@@trockfield77 - I agree - if you watch RT performing it at the end of his live show "1000 years of popular music", he talks about the chords and construction.

This is a prime example of what the BBC has lost. Denied sufficient resources they can't pay for an entertainer to be interviewed on a news programme on a Sunday morning anymore and if they did certainly couldn't pay for him to play entirely live for a couple of minutes over the credits. And we're all the losers because few other networks are going to want to do it.

I actually watched that live one Sunday morning, pissed myself at the end. Thanks for posting.

Well at least the Brit presenters don't lose it over "to play us out" There'll always be an England.

amazing how one guy with an acoustic guitar can make a decent song out of that while Britney and a studio full of techno stuff failed.
@dorianwilliams95866 жыл бұрын
Failed? They accomplished exactly what they intended to accomplish with that song and Britney.
@MosheFeder6 жыл бұрын
Dorian Williams, I think he means failed artistically, not commercially. For my money, RT's version makes it sound like a much more substantial song. I’d love to know if Britney has ever heard his cover.
