Use General's Cry in Autoexertion. While it won't exert your attacks, it will pop spikes constantly due to its extremely low cooldown + reduced cooldown nodes on the tree + Autoexertion's reduced cooldown. EDIT: Okay, it's in the video. I am too hasty, but it's not in the PoB. Great video, anyhow.

Jugg feels good right now. I thought it'd need to be a fire-melee skill to make an overexertion build due to infernal cry but I think I read the skill gem wrong. It says it does 60% convert to fire but I think that's only the combust effect bonus, which is super troll word formatting as a stand-alone line. Also, I doubt they will nerf overexertion support as the weight of the reservations and lack of buffs when using autoexertion is balanced enough. If anything, I think most melee builds are just marginally below the ranged builds in a way that feels well done. Maybe lightning strike or a few uniques gets a hit but that's about it for melee nerfs as far as I can tell.

There is where I struggle in POE...how do I get currency to get better equipment because I need the better equipment to get currency lol. I said something similar to this on your weapon crafting vid but i feel its worth repeating. You're ability to describe wtf is going on this game is top tier. Ive watched so many guides from all the top names. Ziz, subtractum, tuna, palsteron, and others. All these dues are super knowledgeable and put loads of work in, but I seem to miss out on the mid tier of guides. Im aware of how to use PoB and what most of the crafting options are, but I just dont have enough hours yet (they werent kidding when they said 500hrs is still beginner). fyi, you can connect your battlemage warcry to vulnerability on auto exertion and no it doesn't increase reservation since you're technically casting it yourself, the only downside really is that it costs mana since you are casting vulnerability *Learned from ZiggyD

As a note for anyone trying this. If you want the buff from Enduring Cry but don't want to have to remember to press it, you can slot it in the spot you use for your move command and make sure always attack without moving is turned off for that button. You can still move as normal and it will auto cast when off cd. You could also do this with the rallying cry cwdt loop to save a gem slot, though it will feel a little rough without a 20/20 urgent orders.

Woolie you've outdone yourself here, genuinely. I had a friend new to the game mention they wanted to play a big chunky melee build, so I shared this with them and then recreated the build in standard to make sure I wasn't baiting them. This build just obliterated an alch-and-go T16 map w/ exarch altars and a possessed boss on a 5-link axe I spent 2 div and 5 minutes crafting, some random 5-link chestpiece I pulled from a div card, a random helmet I pulled from a div card, and some boots and gloves that didn't sell for 50c a couple leagues ago. My gems are all like lvls 10-12. I even dropped a raw divine?!? What is happening? Gonna wholeheartedly recommend the build to my friend, and consider selling off all my gear on my janky homebrew LS Warden to play this.

Now they're just trying out a bunch of other builds in the campaign to figure out what they like playing. One pain point they mentioned was the cluster jewel swap, as they didn't want to touch trade. Im currently running a build preety with similiar tech to this, but I also utilize 3 more warcries procs(outside of autoexertion)that also grant me the full buff using a low investment into Eternal apple.Mainly tech revolves around sacrificing your endurance charges to proc the shield and gain immense buffs, this together with the Ascendancy node that grants you infinite warcry power makes you a proper force to be reckoned with

Nice vid! Building a warcry build now. Also apparently the Rallying Cry buff only applies to minions, not you. Additionally, if you have it on auto-exert, Mark confirmed in a thread that the exert buff for more damage doesn't apply because the buff isn't 'affecting' your allies, which is the condition for more damage.

I'm at a bit of an inpase with this build. I'm at the point where the only substantial upgrade is to go for 100% suppression. Only there isn't a great way to do it besides farming a stranglegasp. Options are farm 200+ ravaged blight maps, drop echoes of creation, or drop admonisher annoint. Both of which loose you a bunch of damage.

Great video Would be nice with a spreadsheet with all the war cries, buff effects and excert effects with notes on special rules so it’s easy to choose what to use. I had missed some of the mechanics with auto excert so I will need to go back and see what I actually use right now… I must also test using battle mages cry to trigger vulnerability as an excert

Chieftain is kinda nutso for this. Manually casting infinite power warcrys is such a buff. Also if absolutely manually cast infernal cry, the buff effect is just extra damage on hot

Leaving the autoexerted warcries at level 1 is good for reducing their mana cost while not really losing anything that matters. Warcry levels only give duration for the buff which we don't get anyway and a bit a warcry speed which is not crucial

I didn't do any of that minmaxing with the cry cooldowns. Earthshatter has a max spike amount of like 8, so you can attack 3 times before overcapping. So as long as your warcries are up every 3 seconds, your single target dps doesn't suffer. Since autoexertion isnt quite there you could just add a single manual cry (I use manual enduring cry anyways since im a slayer) and now your single target is pretty comfy. And for clear you dont even really need to shout every spike, the impact and spikes clears well enough, and then you pop any remaining enemies with autocries.

Just keep hitting yourself with Echoes of Creation for free endurance charges with the 30% chance to gain endurance charge on hit. Nice and straight forward, I might try a Jugg build later this league, I've been running Chieftain slam this league and the new ascendancy (infinite warcry power) has made me reluctant to spec more warcries into the auto-exert. What do you think is more valuable, Rallying Cry on Auto and Infernal on manual or Infernal on Auto and Rallying Cry on manual, I've found PoB has a hard time showing what exertions actually provide to the DPS.

love the guide and have been hella enjoying leveling this build! question - in the ascendancy tree, why do you prefer to take unrelenting (+1% EDR and PDR per End charge) over unyielding (+8% damage and +6% AOE per End charge respectively and then some)? i feel like the extra resistances may be a bit redundant but you know better of course. thanks!

@@appajoos1240 for elemental - it's not extra resistances - it's extra damage reduction, which is a multiplier to your resistances. The "physical damage reduction" shown in your character's defense tab, which is almost entirely provided by armor, is actually VERY inaccurate, as it doesn't take into account how armor works at mitigating high-damaging hits (aka, one shots.) Basically, armor is extremely bad at lowering high-damage hits, which is why the "%PDR" endurance charges provide is so powerful - it straight up reduces ALL physical damage (armor is only for hits! Endurance charges even reduce things like bleeds) So, to finally answer your question - we take the extra damage reduction because: 1) defenses are more difficult to build than offenses 2) the Unyielding node is NOT a multiplier to your damage (it's summed with all other "increases") Just open up the PoB for this char, use the "Giga Damage" loadout, and go back and forth between the two nodes and you'll see the overall impact both have on the build

That being said, this probably won't get a response, as I know life is life, and we're all busy, but I've been playing for over a year, on PS, and this is literally the only game in my nearly 50 years of gaming I can't seem to concur. echoes is a pretty high-risk item but the Jugg node "Untiring" is one of the major sources of recovery for it. leech obv as well. if you give me your profile name (NOT the individual character's name - your account name on the PoE website) and ensure that your profile is public, I can import your character into PoB and give you some recommendations

Hi Woolie, currently playing with Sunder and recently reached level 92 with your league starter build for newbies(beat eater recently, going for maven and exarch soon). I'm thinking about switching to this build soon. I've already switched the passive tree with some minor changes (nodes that I don’t need in the Sunder build), and the only thing stopping me is mana issues (didn’t know that you could buy a Veiled specific stat for unveil, so huge thanks for this info!) By the way, after level 95, where would you recommend spending points? Should I go for the damage against Maim in the jewel for 2 points, or is it preferable to go into the axe-specific node for 4 points, or even return to Impale? The power report in PoB rates Impale pretty high as I understand, or should I get another cluster socket for 3 points? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Definitely the right choice to swap over. As for specifically what to do - hard to say, without linking your PoB. Jewels are always nice for 2-3 passive points but, other than that, you can take the axe cluster next to Soul of Steel, if you haven't already

Great video! I have a question about the spikes overlapping. In most cases the boss arena is big enough for the spikes to travel to max distance, thus reducing overlapping potential. Is there a sweet spot inc aoe effect that makes the overlapping optimal? and is there a specific spot you wanna aim to hit for best possible overlapping on bosses that have tiny hitboxes?

Hey, loving the vids, been playing an earthshatter Jugg variant myself. Always like seeing what others are doing. I don't know if its any good but I put another earthshatter in line with Generals call so when I use it there are 6 clones popping up putting up earthshatter spikes and then I can pop all of them as well. Maybe someone smarter than me can see if its actually good or just a meme.

I got a technical question, what dictates the spikes travel distance? They travel pretty far and maybe it would be better of they stay closer in boss fights? Also i found a way to incorporate determination: there is a small cluster that lowers the reservation by 50%! Also: why blod and sand and not flesh and stone ? (you stay in blood form right?) Cheers

- spike travel distance scales with area of effect but so do the explosions they create, so it's pretty much just a net positive to grab area. - blood and sand because it only reserves 10% mana, rather than 25%. you can definitely fit in other reservation skills but they require more investment

chill / freeze comes from Jugg "Unstoppable" node and I'm running a few "reduced shock effect" jewels for shock. other ailments I do not have immunity for. you can definitely fit it in , though, with a stormshroud + abyss jewel w/ "avoid shock" mod AND corrupt

Yes, the difference is night and day. Zerker does way more damage, Jugg is one of the tankiest ascendancies in the game. If you've never played melee before, I think Jugg would be best to try out first just because you'll be dying less. You will die a lot going into Zerker earthshatter even if you follow a build guide, simply because it takes experience to understand how to upgrade your gear properly to accommodate for Zerker weakness.

as others have said, zerk = more dmg, jugg = tankier. I'd say that, as your investment gets higher, the disparity between both gets lower and at "infinite" investment, jugg is the better choice due to its inherent tankiness

Got it, can't play that all too often and I'm basically overwhelemed with all POE, I haven't touched crafting yet because its confusing to me right now, with the delve, harvest etc. stuff I just equip items what drops in the ground so far, still in act 6 and I'm so squishy, even though all my resistances were 80%+. Was following a zerker ground slam build from Ziz, I love how detailed the POB guide is but upon exiting acts I have no idea haha. I like how this is put together and easier to understand. For sure! Jugg is the go-to beginner melee class. For clear, it's going to be less than ls deadeye but bossing should be about the same, if not better. But that's for the damage side of things - defense is pretty much incomparable lmao (Jugg WAAAAAY tankier)

make sure autoexertion is not activated - you don't wana run it while leveling. you should just have Pride, Herald of Purity and Blood & Sand as your three reservations. be sure to also grab the "12% increased mana reservation efficiency of skills" mastery (from the "Spirit of War" node)

Full swap to earthshatter once you are in maps, imo. I left it out of the sunder guide as it was directed towards total beginners (simpler to not swap skills) but earthshatter is very close in terms of itemization and passives but deals like 3x more damage, right off the bat

Great guide, damage just RIPs. It RIPs so much i dropped the banner cause i don't think the cast is worth it and put steelskin on cast damage taken for more tank. May trade faster attacks from leap slam for vitality if i get mana reservation efficiency later. Not sure about how useful vitality might be though.

Double exerts are unnecessary with the level of warcry cdr we have and we get plenty of damage as Jugg. Really no reason to go zerk, imo, given the current state of endurance charges

If my ADHD hadn't severely hampered my ability to enjoy non-rogue lite games I am almost certain that you would have convinced me to start playing path of exile quite a long time ago. I miss being able to enjoy more story focused games, RPGs, and a whole lot of other genres of games.

you should give it a shot - the campaign may be a bit tough to get through for you but, should you make it to maps... you're pretty much playing a roguelike, at that point. the progression is SO quick and there are SO many different avenues to progress - you'll feel right at home

@@Woolie I might, some day. The biggest problem for me is when I do play games like this I just wing it and do my own thing. And I know for a fact that is not the way path of exile is meant to be played. You sell the game extremely well, but, I can guarantee you that I will get bored of trying to use path of building and then go play something else. That being said: I am really enjoying the path of exile KZbin content you keep releasing. Thank you for the amazing work!

at the act 3 part in the POB notes it says that I should be using Pride and Herald of Ash. Those both have mana reservations that would take up more than 100%. What do I do? (I'm still kinda new to POE and this is my first time using a build guide)

jugg comes with built-in chill & freeze immunity (Unstoppable) and the only other ailment I care about is shock, which I just get some "reduced shock effect" jewel mods for. you can also use stormshroud to deal with all of them

I used a Stranglegrasp with two suppress anoints (entrench & inveterate) with two small clusters with spell suppress & "%increased effect.) that required then only two t2 suppress rolls on gear and one craft / eldritch implicit to cap

Hi i used ur sunder bulid till endgame and got the amulet that make pride cost no mana and now i can use flesh and stone but there no space for it among the skills because the maximum active skills are 12 and in the bulid they are 13 so do i ditch or can you activate all of them in some way

if you're talking about the skill bar where all the icons are in the bottom right - once you have activated something that reserves mana, you can remove its icon from your active bar and it will stay on. so just swap one with pride, turn it on, and put it back to normal. if you're talking about not having enough sockets in your gear - there should be enough. double check that you don't have an extra gem somewhere
