Thank you. This lead me to find a small drop of pen ink on the scan surface that was the culprit.

Thanks for the tip, the glass looked clean but as soon as I ran my finger over it I felt the dirt and was able to clean it (again!), sometimes the simplest solutions are the best:-) Peter

My problem is with the feeder scanner part leaving black marks. Any remedy for that?

Cleaning the white bar and the scanner strip should fix the problem. You might have to clean more than once.
